| Quote: ChrisPie2 "I know that he has barely been involved in the international setup, has overseen a period of mediocrity when he was the major player at Wire, then with all the new talent that they've brought in over the last few years Briers has diminished in importance, losing his captaincy, and even talk earlier this season of him going to play in the lower leagues.
Hardly smacks of world class, or anywhere near the standard required to grace the Wembley turf.'"
You're on here, acting like a prize gonad, and giving us a lecture on 'class'.

The biggest problem Briers has had during his eleven years or so at Warrington has been some of the dross playing around him. I have no doubt that had he stayed at Saints, or a coach the caliber of Tony Smith had been at Warrington ten years ago (with the financial clout we now possess) then Briers would have a draw full of medals and international caps at home.
The few semi-finals we have made over the years, and the fact that we remained in SL despite some of the less than average (at best) players at the club is because of Briers quality rather than in spite of it.

| Quote: JWP "There's nobody I'd want it more for than him, should we win, I reckon we'll get some reaction from him.
I expect to see all our players throwing boots, shorts, socks etc into the crowd. 17 blokes walking off in undies*
*18, if I join in for a laugh.'"
I'm slightly bemused, and a little concerned by this attitude....Yes, victory tomorrow should be celebrated in a fashion, but to celebrate as though we have actually WON the trophy, really does give the impression of a small-time club....which is an accusation most of us on here like to refute, when opposition fans come on here throwing the term around.
As the Wiganer points out, let's wait until we win the final before going overboard...

All well and good but 20 years between trips to Wembley is a long, long time, its not even the same blinking stadium now-a-days. I know if we win tomorrow I'm going to party like its 1999.
I'll worry about winning the actual trophy itself in a week or so.

I think the whole 'party like its 1999' thing was all a little over-hyped....I seem to recall it was all a bit of a damp squib, not much different to any other New Year's Eve...

| IMHO Lee Briers holds the key to this semi final firmly in his hands, our forwards will lay the platform for him, but he has to step up to the mark and perform to his potential on the big stage. He blows too hot and cold for my liking, but there is no doubt that should Briers perform as we all know he can, Wire will be wembley bound, if not, then Wigan will have a field day.

Lee will need to play a big part if we are to win but I just have this feeling that if Mona's is up for it and on song he could really do the damage to beat wigan.

2004 semi final team -
Daryl Cardiss; Ben Westwood, Darren Burns, Ian Sibbit, Dean Gaskell; Lee Briers, Nathan Wood; Mark Hilton, Jon Clarke, Danny Lima, Jerome Guisset, Mike Wainwright, Mike Forshaw. Subs used: Mark Gleeson, Warren Stevens, Paul Noone. Sub not used: Gary Hulse.
Some honest guys in there with Briers but not realistically going to win you major honours
