| Wants 1 more year at the Sharks so is looking at coming over in 2017. That means he will be 35 in the August of 2017...really how much are you going to get out if him then. That's 2 years away!

| We should put our threshold at 31 years max at time of first season.
Haven't the club learnt ewt?
Haven't we as fans learnt ewt?
No disrespect to Gallen or Asotasi excellent NRL history and ability...
But we've seen with Big Roy his late hemisphere development issues, fitness problems and the cost to settle him and his family here, plus saturating his bank account.
IMO Gallen, absolutely not. Trust in our development of youth or if we have to buy, then get an asset not an ageing gamble.

| Reading the interview a definate no from me. The reason being he says he is good enough for one more year in the NRL, well what good would he be when he came to England, some will say NRL. Is superior to RFL but im not buying that, also is age as some of suggested he will be wsy to old, just wants to come and top his pension up.

That's against the law but I take your point.
Quite apart from the fact that your plan is unlawful, have an arbitrary age cut off would prevent us from signing the likes of Andrew Johns or, say, an Allan Langer or a Cooper Cronk. You can't judge all 31 plus year olds because Roy Asotasi hasn't lived up to expectations. Well, you can, but it's a bad idea.

| Anyone see an irony in having a Laithwaite thread and all the good reviews he's getting and having this one...is it 2003?

| NRL will be superior to SL if we are obsessed with bringing players over who can no longer cut the mustard in Oz . Aussie clubs don't buy our old crocks, they buy younger up & coming lads & mould them to NRL standards then send them back over here worn out.
Bring back the academies & A teams if necessary & produce players from within.

| SL is a way of players extending their careers. Moz would have not lasted the time he has playing in the NRL. He would have been a mess by the end of 2010 If he would have stayed at the Roosters. The games are catching up with Gallen. It would be a big call from the blues selectors but I would not be surprised if he did not appear in SOO this year.
I would love to see him over here. I know he has not been happy about how things have been going at the Sharkies over various things.
I think Marwan has takeover the wrong club. They could sign Gallen. Inglis, Thurston and still not get more than 6k on the ground.

| Salford with ambition probably had the most potential, being close to Manchester and with a huge potential for growth that the likes of Cas/Wakefield didn't have.
IF he can turn Salford into a consistent team (consistently good i mean) then the gates will grow, word of mouth will get around and he'll have a chance.
He needs to get is hands on the stadium too and really develop the land around it too.
Marwan thought he'd get a quick fix (like a Chelsea or Man City) by throwing his money around, personally i think he still needs to do that but at the same time realise it's going to be a slow burner.
I would start with the academy, try his best to make them the best, improve his scouting network, try and grab kids from the south and places in which league isn't so big. He also needs good advisors around him, to the uninitiated Noble seemed like a good appointment, most of us here would probably say that Noble's style was going a little out of fashion, Harris was totally unproven as a winner and being a No.2 at Wigan wasn't necessarily as high profile as he realised.

| I think Yed, Harris had a greater imput than people give him credit.
Look at the Pies now... They seem to be unusually poorer in their hb's. And 2/3 seasons back we all said Green and Smith won't work, somebody shaped them and I struggle to believe its was all crafted by an ex-forward of a coach.
The Pies same robot structure is in place but that pivot isnt, and Wane is feeling the heat.
He is being very vocal about refereeing not being fare about other teams being bully tactics against his players. ("something he would never teach his players to do"icon_wink.gif.
It is looking to me that Wane needs the advise of a quality hb coach. If they don't address it soon, I have a very strong feeling that they might be hovering around that bottom half of the table for the rest of the season.
Getting back on topic, I don't think Doc Marwan would still be around Salford to sign Gallen in 3 years time.
He is already vocally pist arf losing £15/20k every week. Now this is bothering him you won't see him being in a hurry to sign Gallen.
In fact he is offloading players at this time to soften his losses.
Hock already gone and he is making twitter jokes about his lock not fitting the key! Expect Locke to be home before the end if this month.
Salford may well see a CC final, but Barton is his problem, he ain't going to get many more support through them turnstiles unless he moves the team nearer to Manchester imo.
