Tennis is one of those stupid sports that no one likes, bar one week a year. Always makes me laugh when people claim to be big tennis fans, yet don't follow any more than the one tournament.

It's definitely whetted the appetite for the 2015 World Cup in England and I'm sure Sam Tomkins will have watched it with interest. heard andy murray gave quite a sizeable amount to charity so hes gone up several notches in my popularity stakes..good on him for that..now had murray lost in the final we would no doubt have the lions hogging the headlines...but really does it matter

In my teens i played a lot of tennis, but hated Wimbledon for one reason. For 3 weeks of the year you could not get a court, the rest of the year, take your pick..

Last week, halfway through the Wimbledon fortnight, I was walking along Stockton Lane past the fantastic facility that is Grappenhall Sports and Tennis Club. It was 8.00pm and a lovely Summers evening.

The place was closed and there wasn't a sinlge player on the 8 (I believe) magnificent all weather floodlit courts.

A crying shame.

The place was closed, but there was this little lad, hitting a rolled up sock against the wall with a frying pan, and I thought to myself "Well at least in 77 years we might have ourselves another Wimbledon champion".
