He's Australian, so therefore he's used to the more sedate atmosphere of the NRL, where chanting is pretty much taboo and appplause only permitted when a team scores.

And for him to say this in public gives the impression of someone a bit rattled, not sure what by as I doubt it was England's performance that rattled him.
