He was wonderful for us, great sevant for Warrington and terrific player in many positions. Remember him playing stand off against Leigh at Hilton Park in thick fog. He made countless breaks and kept appearing on his own out of the gloom ball in hand. Leigh speccies must have thought they were watching some sort of horror movie as Bev carved them up. |

When he !st started and opposition speccies would always give him grief then he would score a try and give the "Bev salute" before scoring then the invective would really start! I was always worried he would drop the ball in the act of scoring.
One of the best memories was of Stuart Wright runnig all over the field to avoid being tackled by Bev. He was my rugby hero!

If all those young un's who wet themselves over Fa'filli running in tries from 10 yards out could have seen John Bevan, then they would understand why the tattooed fairy got so much apathy from many Wire fans.
Hard as nails and played to the crowd....Top entertainer. |

Where and when was his last game for Warrington?
I have memories of him coming out of retirement for a cup game - maybe away at Dewsbury or somehere like that... early eighties??
But my memory is not what it was.............

Think Bev came back for a couple of games in 85/86 season when we had a glut of injuries to backs. Pretty sure his last game was at Wilderspool, Halifax rings a bell but not sure. |
