What is this obsession with the Mathers thing? A minor part of the deal; if he comes good he comes good... we are hardly expecting him to even get selected never mind counting on him to be a key player.
We won't even see him for a while because he is out injured anyway.

Whether Mathers is worse or not I'm still chuffed to see the back of Gleeson. Now all we need is Briers and Bridge to follow suit and we might start looking good....

I think I would trust Tony Smith's judgment over Brian Nobles on what constitutes a good deal in the transfer market. TS now has £100k in the kitty, plus freed-up salary cap. Even if Mathers comes to nothing, he's still ahead. Gleeson is a top-notch player, but has rarely performed to his best standard for us, and would probably have left on a free at season-end anyway. |

Well let's remember he'd been forced to Wire by his stupid betting thing. He even admitted himself he'd not been told he was being gotton rid of until it was happening. To my mind he's never made a secret of the fact he never wanted to be at the club.

"Martin Gleeson has been seeking a change of club for some time and talk of a club in the NRL has been previously rumoured.
Tony Smith is happy to accommodate the move for the player.
An agreement has been finalised with Wigan Warriors and Martin Gleeson is therefore released with immediate effect. A six figure compensation sum has been agreed with Wigan Warriors.
Tony Smith has again reconfirmed that only players fully committed to Warrington Wolves are wanted at the club".
Very suitable comments given the circumstances, I just hope thisdoesn't come back to bite us on the ar$e.
