Just a point about Wane, now he is England coach, be very interesting to see if he rates any Wires players, by picking them in his squads.

It’ll be interesting to see his first team for sure. If you look at how he wanted players in certain positions to play at Wigan, then our wingers and centres will be doing lots of work off our own line, the hooker will just look to supply quick ball to the halfbacks and forwards, the two second rowers will play 80 mins and the props will be mobile and be expected to find the floor quick and get fast play the balls away. It may just be that he played the tactics to suit the squad he was given at our place but if not, it’ll be bad news for guys like Josh Hodgson and Tom Burgess. Those two amongst others don’t fit in with the style of players he’s traditionally gone with.

As for him taking the Wire job or any job, he’s tied down full time with England for two years and I’m 100% convinced he wouldn’t give that away.

Might just be small talk but I was told the club are looking at Mike Forshaw who is a coach at Sale Sharks. Also Ben Walker has been mentioned. The club will not bin Price off until a replacement has been signed. As for Hendo and Briers if this two had any say in coaching matters the club might be in better shape

I think people would quickly get over a dull and predictable style of play if it was bringing in trophies.

A number of Pie followers were not that enamoured by Wane's trophy winning style of play.

Well to be fair to Wigan theyve won enough titles to want any more to be won via a decent style. Whereas we would quite happily take a GF win if it meant winning the majority of our remaining games 4-0.

Spot on you can see it with our trips to Wembley apart from perhaps v Saints it's becoming more usual than not and taken for granted in some quarters

I like Wane a lot but I also think this is true.

His success at Wigan might well have been the product of a whole system and positive culture, of which he was part, which created a team of winners, rather than Wane being an individual that drove it all.

On the field you could say O'Loughlin was a similar influence but if we signed him you wouldn't expect us to be instantly Grand Final contenders.

By all means bring Wane in but I think we'd need to bring a lot more features of the Wigan model in to the club too.

The other question that would be interesting to hear is why did he leave ? From all accounts he wanted to remain at Wigan, and of course he didn't leave because he was lured away by an offer 'he couldn't refuse'. Unless he had issues with his private life that would suggest he was pushed out by IL.
