| Agree, another bad Friday night Currie. His half d defense and his unwillingness to take in some hard drives to help the team out really annoys me. He'll be on a good wage as well and one of the first players I'd rid the club of along with Hughes.
Surprised and disappointed with Holmes. I think he would have preferred Watson as coach to bring back the old Baker Street partnership because he hasn't got a clue at the moment.

| Perhaps stop treating the game with Saints with so much importance. Can't be a coincidence that a good performance against Saints is followed by falling apart. Happened ,twice this season.

Quite.
If there's one thing I HATE in sport, is having "smoke blown up the ar53" of a side that's got beat. We lost v Saints, yet all I heard from the Sky morons, was how great we were that night. We got beat. Winning is all that matters to a side. They got the competition 2 points, we got faint praise. Too many of our players have "dined out" on that. Too many fans have, also. Great effort in a game should be "a given".
Plucky loser........ You're having a laugh.

What has he ever won as a coach?

He has got Castleford to as many Grand Finals as Price did on half the money. He also won a league leaders shield in 2017 which Price failed to do.
Three consecutive league leaders shields in the championship. 2010, 2011, 2012.
Powell is not a bad coach. Our problems are deeper.

Nothing.
And I’d say the track record of some of our players, some with ten years service to the club under their belts, international honours, cup winners medals and good stints in the NRL shouldn’t be so easily dismissed as there being a ‘clear winner’ when comparing the playing group to the coach.

If we had a CEO with anything about him he would convene a meeting of all the playing staff on Monday morning.
He would say he and the board back the coaching staff completely and that if any player does not want to play for him, or give less than 100% they can make their way up to his office after the meeting and sign a compromise agreement to leave the club with immediate effect. I'd rather play our reserves and lose with effort than kowtow to these show ponies.
Also those players who have brought shame in the national papers should be fined and dropped for the next game.
It's one thing us being garbage, it's another having our name dragged through the mud by player indiscipline.

We also got rid of Price as that wasn’t acceptable. So, winning a cup and reaching a grand final on top of qualifying for play offs at every opportunity wasn’t good enough.
While he might not be a bad coach, he certainly isn’t a consistent one. His teams have been in and out of the play offs over a sustained period. We tried to get a coach to take us from nearly men to champions

Paul Anderson won the league leaders shield. Is he a suitable candidate for the job?

I was answering the question on what he has won.

I appreciate that, however the thesis that because he won the league leaders shield he is a good coach is flawed, as I have tried to point out.

| Quote: Gazwire "I agree that Powell has not been blameless in this but I still appoint much more blame towards the players.
The defence problem though, isn't so much to do with Powell being a bad defensive coach (Powell won the league leaders trophy and nearly the grand final after turning around a relegation threatened Castleford a few years back), but more to do with players attitude. The previous week's performance against Stains shows this to a large degree.
You say
Let’s face it. Powell is more Roy Hodgson than Jurgen Klopp.
And there were subtle changes to the way Liverpool played early on in Klopp’s tenure. Yes it took him time to get them to the exceptional level they’re at now, but even in his first game in charge you could see the blueprint of how he wanted his team to play and how he wanted to evolve the style and attitude of the players. Let’s not forget they got to two cup finals in his first six months in charge too.
A good manager either needs to be feared or respected and it’s looking like Powell is neither amongst this group. We’re a rudderless ship, lacking any sort of direction or improvement and it’s hard to see where the next win comes from at the moment. It’s a sign of the times and a sign of how far this club and the standards have dropped given how many seem content with this rubbish were currently being dished up.
It’s simply not good enough. Not good enough from the players and not good enough from Powell either.

Yes, I know pal. I never put forward the thesis that the LLS was the basis of his appointment.
I feel your frustration and share it.
All I will say in defence of Powell is these so called "talented" players have
1. Ended up playing Championship sides in 2017 giving rise to the end of Tony Smith's reign.
2. Lost play off games at home in 2019, 20, 21.
3. Have bottled big finals failing to turn up.
4. Have never shown resilience or mental toughness.
These players, and we all know who they are, have spanned 3 coaches now and the result is always the same. It's time they were gone.
That's why I don't think all the blame is at Powell's door. I don't think he is a bad coach. We will see.
