| United do it so they can get round the Premier League rule of away fans being charged the same as home fans for a similar spec. Tickets are cheaper for United members than non members, but pretty much the only tickets (other than season tickets, corporates, etc) sold to non members are in the away end. Therefore away fans pay more than the United fans standing next to them in the K Stand.
Liverpool do it so they can rip fans off by charging them £30 a year for the right to purchase tickets. They don't have to charge this of course, but good luck getting a "general sale" ticket if you haven't paid it.
Basically, memberships at high demand grounds are used to rip people off. The Wires membership isn't (or doesn't seem to be on the face of it) but it does seem a bit pointless.

I looked into getting a Liverpool membership last year. . but that was as you say a rip off of sorts. .they were charging around 30 quid, and that would get you a beanie hat scarf n pencil case or something similar .... but wait for it the"chance" to buy tickets for West Brom, Stoke and Swansea at home. ..
So... the second last in line (last really) for tickets for eye wateringly dreadful teams. At no discounted price if I remember. Either way I wasnt fussed I find football more tedious as the seasons go by and my eldest has lost interest too and my two youngest are barcelona fans... (full Messi and Naymar kits I thank you)
I'll join the wires membership for no other reason than its not that dear, I feel like I'm joining something meaningful also I'll be helping the club in its ambition to become bigger. .....plus I spend a fortune in the club shop. ..so it would be nice for them to know what I buy and thank me in some small way. ..

I know this happens but it isn't the reason why. The membership came in years before any discounted tickets. Although you could get in the Stretford groundside with a membership and it was 20p cheaper than Stretford Paddock which was open to anyone.

| Fair enough. I've obviously been in the away end at Old Trafford a few times though, and I pay £27 a year for my "Light membership" (which gives no benefits other than access to tickets which is all I want) at Liverpool because I've got no choice in the matter. I reckon I've therefore been ripped off by both clubs membership schemes. That's the reason why I'm not a fan of them at all, which is the primary reason for my disdain for the Wires one!
As with football, the only thing I really buy from Wires is entry to matches, so unless the membership starts to offer a benefit there then I see no reason to join it when access to all games is easy.

Trust me on this games will not be moving to Fridays (apart from Sky matches, of course ).

| I would like to suggest that the club start addressing the issues on the pitch. Start getting the right results on the pitch & gimmicks won't be needed.

It is to do with building loyality points during the season to get discounts off the shop/food and drink etc. I think its a good idea and supports the club.

| If this is the case, as a season ticket holder. how will this be of any benefit to us, other than maybe given early information of signings?

| Previously you were either a fan who bought tickets match by match and received no benefits, no priority on tickets, or a season ticket holder that did.
Even at the £15 membership level you will soon get that money back;
£10 off a home league match ticket, £5 off selected items, loyalty points, and if you go Magic Weekend 50% off your ticket is a big saving.
As a season ticket holder I will be glad to not be carrying around a full ticket book any more. I'm sure there will be information on loyalty points, and any sponsor offers soon.

So maybe worth it if yo go to the magic weekend and buy a load of stuff from the shop. It should say what these selected items are likely to be. Also, I'm sure it's not difficult to get 50% magic weekend tickets without having a membership/season ticket.
Is there any information on what how the loyalty points work and what they can be spent on? Also what are the sponsor offers?
I don't think I'll be getting a season ticket next season. I've missed too many games through kick off time changes for it to be worth it. Match by match for me next season I think.
