Slightly different point, but l went to less games last year than usual but at£40 in petrol each time and lots of wire matches on sky l've picked and chosen my games. Warrington may be a growing town but it's hardly thriving so the attendances are holding up well imo.
Just hope things pick up more for all in the town.

I genuinely think we're being a bit harsh here. Marketing is about raising your profile, attracting interest, opportunities, revenue and profit. With that in mind, Emirates wouldn't have given us the time of day if the marketing team hadn't convinced them of the clubs standing, and that by being associated with the club they would tangibly benefit. In that alone, they've secured the clubs financial position and in the current financial climate, they should be lauded.

Perhaps it's because I'm old enough to remember when the clubs idea of visionary marketing was a stall on the market, but we're scaling the mountain whilst most are in the foothills on this one.

There's always room to improve, and commerce never sleeps or stands still, but I think wholesale criticism is unfair.

Perhaps we are being harsh, the club has strong finances and we are a top 4 club in SL. When you compare our situation to Bulls and Wakey, we don't have too much to complain about.

Mind you, we didn't win anything last year, we must be on the slide.

I commented on this a couple of years ago and got blasted by a couple of regular posters.

Marketing really is sub-standard for a top club.

On the website, the fixture/results listing is pathetic. Injury updates are non-existent and the
general layout/composition is poor and dated.

Design of kit is another area that needs some attention. The kit design is at student project level,
and when compared to some others, particularly aussie and other overseas examples, falls well short.
It seems that the kit manufacturer rolls up at the HJ with a couple of samples and someone from the
club says, "OK that one will do". Job done.

I don't think SM can be blamed for this but someone at a senior level, whose responsibility it is, needs
to start earning their corn.

I think the past 3 seasons we've had some of our best ever kits. Next year's is superb.

I just think that there should be billboards, flyers, a Wolfware shop in the golden square. The club should be hammering rugby down everyone's throat. Last year for the Wigan game they put a few posters up in the golden square the day before. It's laughable.

I appreciate the sponser we've pulled in and that does excel one part of the market ing department. But other areas are below average IMO.

Rare occasion where we agree! Re billboards though, I did notice one advertising the new kits on Winwick Road when I got the bus back from Leigh the other night.

I have seen one advertising the kit an all, good show. Just think it should be a weekly thing or at least for 'the big game's. I'm sure it will become better.

I do think though that a wolfware shop in the golden square could be a massive marketing tool. The Windows could have big screens showing classic games and what not. They could even have a small timeline thing going on in the entrance. I dunno, in my head it looks ace icon_razz.gif

Don't know about Marketing and Advertising as i don't live in or around Warrington but the site does look a bit 'dated' and 'cheap'.

I dunno, in my head it looks ace Hull KR's club shop in the city centre is brilliant and spread out over two floors so they can have signings etc without causing chaos. It is also right next door to the Hull shop!

Personally, given the amount of new housing and "money" in there, I'd like to see places like Chapelford and the new developments targeted with billboards. The Burtonwood road m62 junction into Sankey and Cromwell Ave has stationary traffic for a good 2hrs a day. How many people would pass a couple of big adverts? It's a wasted opportunity. It always seems that the majority of the marketing is done around the stadium, basically being seen by people who already know the stadium and team exist.

You are aware we had a shop at Cockhedge which was an unmitigated disaster?

I really don't see the point of relocating/creating a new location some sub-ten minutes walk away from the existing shop. It seems even more pointless, when you factor parking into the equation.

The website is undeniably looking a little dated, but a remit should be given to the designers (www.theonepoint.co.uk), to maintain the site with current techniques. The Arial based font, is a little bit weak, certainly when it is considered with a lack of flash content. The general landing page is a little too busy for me, but that can be easily remedied.

To the person decrying the kit design, maybe you should take it up with the manufacturers, ISC, who propose designs for approval. You know, the same company who produce kits for half a dozen NRL sides.
