Quote: mark_m "The concern I have is that was the best team we have assembled but have come up without either piece of silverware. Will we be as good next year? Not sure, as Matt King has been an absolute warrior this year and is not being replaced. The new signings are a little underwhelming and some of our key players could well be playing their last season.

Hope the last couple of seasons are not as good as it was going to get.'"

I'm not really concerned about our recruitment as yet....Next year's squad looks strong enough to challenge the top 4 again. King will be a miss, but I'm looking forward to the development of Rhys Evans to be honest, it will be a big year for him.

My main concern is when Tony Smith decides to leave, and that we replace him with a top class coach....We spent a few years with a good squad and an inferior coach under Cullen and Lowes and those were true examples of under acheivement and caused true disappointment, in comparison with the supposed disaster Mr Fishwick refers to.

I just hope that Mr Moran has learnt his lesson and that he realises the importance of having the best possible coach to look after the signings and promising youngsters we will undoubtedly recruit in the coming years.

Thats pretty much how i view things, Matt King will be a massive loss and he won't be replaced with a player anywhere near the same quality, its not just his ability in being able to finish in impossible looking situations, its his defence and constant work rate in bringing the ball out that will equally be missed.

Brett Hodgson looks very brittle, i'd be very suprised if we got more than 60% of the season from him. Chris Riley can play fullback and he's been in outstanding form but he's no extra stand off in attack like Brett Hodgson, Ratchford will need time to settle into the club along with the rumoured new position of him playing fullback.

Our senior players will be a year older, SL is a long hard season including the challenge cup so its going to be a big ask for players like Moz, Lee Briers and David Solomona to keep up their form for another long grueling season.

Its the fringe players that concern me, i don't see the likes of Matty Blythe, Lee Mitchell and Tyrone McCarthy being much of a threat either from the bench or in a starting 13. Hopefully some of the other young guns are ready for the step up like Ben Evans and James Laithwaitwe just to name 2 along with the obvious ones like Gareth O'Brien who looks a talent and Rhys Evans.

I think we'll be weaker next season, like Mark i see this seasons squad as being our best ever squad of players that ive ever seen at Warrington, this year was more than a realistic chance of winning a grand final, we basically blew it when the chips were down.

We were trying to think of a player who could replace King and quite frankly we couldn't come up with any names either inside or outside the club.

My reflections.

We got beat by a dead cert penalty awarded for an offside that Ganson & child's had ignored all game, Beaten by two points, end of.

Leeds 13 points behind Warrington are crowned Super League champion if they win next week ? Bizarre !!

Don't be taken in by the Sky Sports knockout jamboree.
As in any other sport, Top of the League are the Champs, or the whole year has been a pointless farce !

King is a great player, but I really don't think his position is one where you necessarily need a top class player.....I believe we have plenty of options to cover his loss.

The main thing is that your pivot roles are covered with top class players...They are numbers 1, 6, 7, 9 and 13 and if Hodgson stays fit (which looks a big if) then i think we are suitably covered....However, replacing Briers and Monaghan in the future is going to be key to our long term future....I think in the next 2-3 years we can expect to see Mr Moran's chequebook make an appearance or two to remedy those problems.

I agree 100% with Wilsons sentiments about league leaders being the true champions.

Unfortunately though its only the GF winners that get remembered as the years winners.

That's a terrible insult to Leeds's effort last night....To say we bottled it is simply a cop-out, Leeds were tremendous and, in my opinion, would have beat any Super League side last night with that display.

The sad fact is some of our fans have got carried away with the way we have been blowing sides away this year and seemed to expect it every week, and when we didn't we get accused of 'bottling' it.....Last night was a play off match against an experienced, if under acheiving, Leeds side and was always going to be a tough game - There is no shame in the way we went out.

Agree, Leeds played their best game of the year, but they beat us by a 2 point penalty, good luck to them, I want them to win the GF, but Champions? Absolutely not !

Lets be honest - we won two Challenge Cups against sides that bottled it.

Huddersfield froze in the headlights of their first experience of Wembley, and then Leeds crumbled under the pressure last year and played a shocker.

We fortunately managed to avoid our nemesis the Saints because they bottled it in the semi finals both times (like this year as well)

But of course we thought those wins were cos we were just too good for our opponents. In both years we were clearly underdogs - in 2009 Hudds made the playoffs and had the best player in the league and we finished 9th. Last year Leeds went into the game as triple Grand Final winners and they couldn't handle the cauldron of knock out rugby.

Not bad.

However, just to clarify, the Wire Hudds final saw most bookies have both teams at 5/6 or 4/5, and we were marginal favourites against Leeds last year, IIRC. icon_smile.gif

FFS, 5 pages of bait rising to the @@@@wit that is Colin_Fishwaick

Are some of you lot blind or daft?

I tumbled this imposter weeks ago.

I mean, COME ON, we won the league 3 weeks ago, and where was he....nowhere to be seen
He predicted our downfall v Wigan...wrong
He said we'd get beat by Hull...guess what, wrong again.
As a result, we won the league for the first time in nearly 40 years, and guess where the @@@@wit is.....nowhere to be seen

We hammer Hudds....no posts from little Col
We have 13 days without a game.....again, no posts from little Col
We lose a game, and he's throwing in bait like it's going out of fashion.
Come on boys and girls.....if Colin is a Wire, then Ian Paisley is exchanging Christmas cards with that t0$$er Gerry Adams.
