Keiron Cunningham won around 19 trophies (I'm just guessing there) and is no doubt Saints most decorated player.
Lee Briers has won 2 Challenge Cups. Even by Warrington's history I'm sure that isn't all that special, I'm sure there have been players who have won multiple league titles and multiple Challenge Cups. (Late 40s to early 50s Warrington were pretty dominant)
Doing something like that for Briers now would have been like Saints doing one for Bobbie Goulding or Karle Hammond.

I can see where Saddened is coming from but also see the merits in celebrating Lee Briers but only when he has retired. To be honest erecting a status of a 30 something year old who up until last October was still playing the game was OTT in my opinion  . Statues usually celebrate the works of people no longer with us. Granted KC was a great one club play player and achieved lots in the game but in comparison would Man U erect a statue of Ryan Giggs or England a statue of David Beckham, both in the twighlight of their careers. I don't think so. |

I'd agree on the timing. The timing of KC's was strange. Why not just wait until the new stadium and put him outside that, or incorporated into the wall? |

That's a lie. A quick look over your post history shows a good 58 pages worth of posts. With each page having 15 posts that would make your posts on the Warrington board go to around 870, so you're wrong there!

Back on topic too, I think it is a great deal to go through, especially with him playing as well as he is. Just read on the Sporting Life article that he was offered 2 year deals elsewhere. I would have a guess that if he wants to carry on after 2012 then he will probably be signed by Crusaders/Widnes for a year with him hopefully coming back to us after that to be a coach if required.

Pleased for Lee plus it's good to get it sorted out early in the season. He has deserved the deal to be fair. Briers had been outstanding at times under the Lord Tony Smith.
