| Have to agree with some of the stewards thinking they are working the doors, Girlfriend and I arrived after Kick off which was our own fault but the steward in the far SE corner just repeated the line "go to the west stand", we ended up walking one steward up who allowed us up and had to limbo the barriers to our usual spot (not expecting it to be for us however as season ticket holders expect to be fairly treated) where there was more than ample space.
Understand its safety first at all games however the attitude of some stewards is so defensive it beggars belief.

| This get there earlier argument always cracks me up. If everyone turned up 3 hours early, the same would happen but 3 hours earlier. I've turned up a few minutes before kick off several times, the stewards have blocked the stairs when there is clearly plenty of space in the centres between the steps. The real issue is people turn up early and stand next to the steps blocking the exit from the steps to the centres.

| Even Mr. Moran was having trouble getting in the South Stand yesterday. Some steward wasn't letting him cross from the East to the South Stand. Eventually he allowed him past...P45 in the post Mr. Steward

I think the £5/£10 tickets for the West Stand have got something to do with that.

Personally, I don't care how they get them in, aslong as they come in.
As for the original topic, apparently the South stand wasn't full, but because people refused to stand in the gaps and congregated at the edges of each block, the club were forced to move people into the West stand. Which answers my earlier question as to why they were allowed into the South stand if it was full

| There was loads of room in the South stand yesterday, as someone said before, it just seems most people congregate towards the yellow lines, so moving up the walkways made it look very busy. I had plenty of room, and plenty room round me.
Why oh why oh why though, do the stewards insist on moving you away from the yellow lines at an hour before kick off, and do bugger all once the game has kicked off !!
Sorry - a joke !
What is also a joke, is little Hitkers picking on a 15 year old lad who had the gall to have a drink 'from a can of coke' !!
What a heinous and dastardly act that was, mind you it did take 4 stewards to 'sort the offender out'.
Quite why they didn't bother with the other lads who had the litre bottles of pop on them I don't know....
And for the record I refuse to pay the exorbitant prices they charge at the kiosks, so that is why I let my SON take a can in with him.......not like he's the only person taking grub/drink from outside of the stadium is he...
Big brave stewards when it comes to a 15 year old lad........yeah right

| i was in a good spot (away from the yellow lines) and asked to move into a space to create..... 'more room' ??
then was insulted by mr army coat
And thank you to the said guy in the army coat stood behind me calling my lets say mosher coat, all the game thinking i was totally oblivious, yes i am the pied piper of hamlyn, yes my hair does look like the back end of a sheep tied up in my hat and yes that's the reason I'm not stood with the crusaders fans because i don't want a "Gareth Thomasing" t0$$3r

I wonder if they were the same stewards who thought it would be easy to kick the young united fans out at the Liverpool reserve game a couple of years back. They certainly got a shock that night.

Is that the ghost of Brian Bevan I see weeping ?: |
|
| Could it be that people stand at the edges close to the yellow lines in order to have easy access to their beloved beer? We're in the North Stand and we're fed up of continually getting up down up down up down so the ale cans can service their alcohol habit. Having consumed copious amounts we then start again...up down up down up down to let them out to have a pee. If I can do without a fag for an hour and a half surely the alkies can manage without ale. Perhaps the answer would be to close the bars when the game is on and ban beer from the terraces in the way football does it.

It happens in football because of the large hooligan element.
In the South stand, if everyone was spread out evenly, it wouldn't take that much effort to get to the bar. The only place you find any problems now is when you get to the edges. It's common sense all round really, but people want to make it easier for themselves and to hell with everyone else.

| I think closing the bars during play is not a bad idea. Banning alcohol from pitchside I see no reason for.

Would the large queues not run into a problem after 15 minutes when the bars shut for the second half with a hundred or so people having not being served? More staff and tills maybe?
