as for Hanleys Bradford Career the first man to score more than 50 tries in a season since Billy Boston and the first non-winger to reach this figure for 70 years.
55 tries in 37 appearances,
he was awarded the Man of Steel award in 1984-85
as well as the First Division Player of the Year.
ps you dont know who Billy Mcginty is do you....
I just got a PM from a wire fan mate of mine who reads these forums but doesn't post. He actually apologised for you, your ignorance embarresses your own fans.

Whats ignorant about stating the Fact that Hanley was one of the Greatest players of all time....?
please explain.....
the original poster said "what would mike Gregory have won in that wigan side ...and What did Ellery Achieve at Bradford.......
if you agree with that statement i can only imagine you'd have no problem popping on a man united Website somewhere and saying Wayne Rooney is garbage and What did he achieve at Everton.....
oh if i'm being ignorant about Billy Mcginty too ...again please explain...

Bit unfair on Billy this mate. Really good player for us , injury prone but good. mom in the Regal trophy final in 91 to boot! No statue though.

yeah ....probably a bit unfair. But Billy was largely a sub at warrington...
well behind Gregory, Roberts, Sanderson...etc in the pecking order but he went to Wigan and became a GB international...!!!
a good player but probably got more medals than his talent deserved simply because he got that dream move to Wigan

| It should be a 2 man statue showing the flying tackle made by Mike Gregory on Shaun Edwards in the 1990 Final.
Covers all the bases.
Its got probably the most successful player ever to have played at Wembley.
The subject matter shows a player who had chased down 4 Wigan players on his own in a desperate attempt to prevent a try ( the fact that Edwards offloaded to Hanley to score is irrelevant )
And it also pays tribute to a rugby league legend taken from us way before his time

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.
For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.
Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg |

Personally i think it should be Ellery Hanley, he`s the greatest english rugby league player ive ever seen.
Some good Hanley footage here, some of his greatest tries. I think the link is ok as it says "This video contains an audio track that has not been authorised by all copyright holders. The audio has been disabled"
His try against St Helens at Wembley was another great try along with the famous one against Halifax.
