| Quote: Winslade's Offload "I thought Gidley was MOM to be honest. Hilly is club captain, but if you ignore the play and just watch Gidley, he is pulling absolutely all the strings. He calls the plays, he sets the players, he is the dynamo close to the line, his tackling is absolutely top class and his kicking is brilliant. It was his tackle that sent Tony Clubb off to the changing rooms. He is the little general.
Yes, I am a really big fan of Jullien. I am going to start wearing onions around my neck and holidaying in Carcassonne. I will probably buy the Allo, Allo box set as well. What I want to know is how he manages to tackle. He had only been on the pitch for 5 minutes when some poor sod ran at him with the ball and just stopped dead (I saw this a couple of weeks ago as well). How does that happen ? The laws of physics must surely mean that the attacker is going to gain another two yards or so because of his momentum. But no, they just stop dead as though they have hit a brick wall. He did cock up a kick off by Wigan, and yes his play with ball in hand has some way to develop, but he just adds so much to the team because of his defence and versatility . Sign him up for another 2-3 years before he decides he doesn't like hailstorms in April and discovers that Nandos doesn't sell escargots.'"
To be fair it isn't hard to snap Matty Smith in two when he's running at someone of Julien's strength. But he does put in some good hits. Trumped by Clark tonight in that department though! He was mauling them all.

| Clark certainly had a very good game. He is being asked to do a different job to the one at Cas and just gets better and better as the games roll by. But Julien is an exceptional tackler, lets not forget that the likes of Matty Russel and Penny are pretty small compared to Smith, yet they always make good yards - sometimes against a trio of forwards. Jullien only turned 21 last month and was playing for a league one side last year. Granted he is a long way from being one of our best players, but I really think that if he can continue to develop, he will be one of our most valuable in a few years time.

| I thought it was a toss up between Gids and Tautai for our MotM, Gids marshaled defence and lead the attack but then the Tautai hattrick is also hard to overlook.
Probably Gids for me.
Serious note our backs are taking a hell of a lot of heat off our pack and Penny is unbelievable.
I think he has sacrificed that 'x factor' but is all round game has made him undroppable, and currently one of the best wingers in SL.
I've seen Flying Biscuit defend his take of the high ball until the cows come home, even the years when he wasn't with us, i agreed with him and he still has it, i feel of all the backs he has the safest hands under a high bomb, i include Ratch in that too.

| On Jullien, there were a couple of drives he made towards the end where his running style looked really effective - leaning forward, ball out in front in two hands, ability to swerve left or right before contact - and reminded me of someone like Westwood. A lot to come from him: you can just see he wants to be involved in the game.

If it wasn't for Bateman it would have been 50odd.

| Re Jon Clarke. Anyone noticed that we're coming out for the warm up a lot later these days? If I remember correctly one Paul Cullen favoured that when Mr Clarke played under him.

That's because they are all having another quick half pint before they come out.

Hopefully all those idiots who slagged him off last season, will now admit that his "poor" form was because he was carrying an injury whilst adjusting to a new job role.
