| Yes I'm aware. I think he has the tactical brain to make a good coach though.

| Quote RLIMR="RLIMR"That's not what I said. Maybe I should have said that Clarke is a completely different hooker to Monaghan, he doesn't possess the skills that Monaghan has when it comes to being able to unlock the toughest of defences. Hopefully that will come over time.'"
"....Clarke, who at the moment is only a runner" praise indeed, I bet Clark can't wait to wear the P&B

| Hold on! Hold on!
Yes, MonaghanM is (was) a class act, but this doesn't automatically mean he's going to launch into a successful coaching career.
He's been paid well for what he currently does.
We've just given Briers a job (again, after great service). We'll have Woody and Westwood retiring soon. Are we to instantly make job titles up for these two, as well?
We don't owe these people a living.

All I will say is you're in for a bit of a shock if you're expecting Clark to play the same game Monaghan plays. If you would like to take words out of context that's fine. Clark plays a running game.

It will be Plan B then. Fine by me.

I didn't take them out of context and that was my point, I noted your use of the word only and responded that he's a bit better than Forrest Gump, a reference to a runner that might not possess other qualities. I also agreed with your praise of Monaghan so there's no need to get touchy, or act like I'm twisting your words.
I recognise that they are not the same type of player and would also agree that if some of that "genius" could be passed on to Clark then what a player we would have. My problem with this is can you coach what Monaghan has got, I'm not so sure as it's about instinctive play and experience not something that could be taught by video or on a whiteboard, otherwise the game would be full of 23 year old Monaghan's and Briers's?

| Regards work permit, isn't he marrying an English girl and been here long enough for that to be almost a non issue, he could end up with duel nationality.

My apologies.
Clark will be a top player in his own right, I'm sure with the right coaching he can improve the other areas of his game but as you say, some of that instinctive play is what can't be coached.

And me.
I see him in the Roby mould, he has that explosive pace out of dummy half and the good upper body strength to twist and turn out of the tackle. He has a nice way of bringing his forwards onto the ball like Roby does.
With the forward pack we are assembling for next year, he may well run riot.

No need for an apology RLIMR, we all want the same result after all? Given Monaghan's renaissance this year I hope that he signs off with the ultimate prize he fully deserves it, what a brain and pound for pound what a defender

| 'Best Aussie import' is a pretty subjective judgement, but for me he is by far away my favourite. He is a bit like an iceberg, yes you can see him making breaks / scoring tries / flipping passes out to support players, but there is also a lot that goes un-noticed to the casual observer. When you watch the game against Saints, then in a 3 man tackle you see big Roy, or perhaps Jammer get up off his man and glibly assume he has made the tackle. But invariably our last man to get up will be Monas (or perhaps Higham). They have made the initial tackle, felling the runner by taking his legs away. And can you recall one moment when he has lost his rag ? Or deliberately fouled another player ?
He is the complete professional. End of an era for me, I don't think we will see players of his class signed again for Wire for a long time.
