| Quote Rob Wire="Rob Wire"Fatigue shouldn't be a factor for wingers, its the forwards and players that have their hands on the ball most who are at risk of fatigue. The Salford game was little more than a slightly intense training session, even when Williams got going he made no ground on Sharp, it looked like a half hearted, casual chase for whatever the reason rather than him going all out to at least try and close the angle down.
Ive seen James Graham not give up on a chase in worse situations even though he probably knew that their wasn't a great deal he could do, he still showed the commitment to chase all the way to the line.'"
Agreed, I'm merely offering an excuse.
Anyhow, I'm not too d he gave up, it's such a waste of effort, just for the fans benefit really, nobody was catching Sharp from the moment he pouched it. I'd rather criticise Atkins for the poor handling that put the ball in Sharp's hands than Williams not making an effort.
That Williams is winning me over, looks a solid little player to me. Has a happy knack of scoring too, I think he's score in every SL game that he's played for us so far.

| I bet Rhys Evans might have caught him, I seem to recall a chase back he made against Catalans in similar circumstances (even though the referee had already pulled the game back for an offence).
Wiiliams is a solid player though, surprised he is getting so much stick. Then again I am also surprised at how quick everyone has written off Riley.

JWP I am agreeing with you more and more as time goes on *sorry to insult you) I too think he is developing nicely. He will most definitely be our 'go to' winger in a few years.

Evans
Williams
It's not that bad, in fact it is really good and we have the option of Atkins and Blythe in the centres and Riley etc wing

Riley looks like he's getting the Penny treatment to me.
Smith has played a rookie centre on the wing ahead of him, a lad who he loaned out recently with less experience and when there's a gig at fullback he plonks Bridge there.
Widnes-bound.

| Could well be but I fail to see why Williams is a better option than Riley at this stage. Makes you wonder what is going outside matchday.

I'm not sure. I think Williams has all the attributes to be a good 'un, he's also bigger, and Smith likes us having a big, strong backline. So if you replace the pace, but add strength and size, you're up.
Riley when I've seen him this year has been poor, especially defensively which was what always got him raps over Penny, well recently I've seen plenty of poor reads from him, so maybe Smith thinks he's just not switched on.
For me, I'd keep Williams in the side, for now at least. His record wherever he has been, ie, us, Wales & Crusaders is fantastic, I think he deserves his chance.

| I think he's ordinary to be honest. I would imagine we ain't paying him much. So that's fair enough.

| Just seen that Sharp try on BNL, I have to admit I was surprised at how slow and labored Williams was chasing back.

Maybe he found the quick turnaround from Good Friday a bit too much? He certainly looked rapid enough against Salford. To be honest, I don't think he recovered his confidence after making a mess of taking in that high ball midway through the first half. Still think he's a very decent prospect though.
