Which were the available props we missed out on prior to signing Latu?
We ended up with Latu because that was what was available. It was a gamble that with hindsight there were enough signs to say don't bother.
If you want to install a win at all costs attitude in a squad you do not want to have in that environment people who will just do what they have to do to pick up their pay packet. You need people who will go beyond the norm and put themselves out to achieve the goals. I don't think Latu was in the second category! |

Trouble is we don’t learn. Weller Haruki has this week come out and said he had an offer from Warrington a few weeks ago but decided to retire. Good grief. What must these young forwards in the academy be thinking? |

He hasn't said Warrington made hm an offer. He made some vague comment about having chats with a few clubs and Warrington showing interest. What they phoned hls agent back.

I'm an eternal optimist, and I am really looking forward to seeing Inglis play. Hopefully our halfbacks will click and we have a .better set of props I think. Wigan with Bateman are a much better team. Saints have that "lucky" element about them but I too would make Wigan favourites. Should be an interesting season ahead.

I struggle to believe we offered him a contract, let alone that he refused it! |

OK so he said we had shown interest and had a chat with him. Surely that's bad enough? Why are we talking to a 36 year old journeyman who isn't deemed good enough for Hull KR?'
We may as well have a chat with Adrian Morley and see if he wants to come out of retirement. |

It is the Guardian's reporter interpretation of what Hauraki apparently said / implied. Seems to me that the Guardian reporter has a requirement to post a story and that's the best he could come up with, jazz it up with a headline and who knows there may be some people out there who think it's a big news story.

Maybe you’re happy with not winning a title in 65 years despite having the best squad during periods of the last 10 years and spending the most money. Maybe you’re happy that our recruitment over the last 5 years has been a mess and signing players that can’t even be d turning up for training whilst not giving local lads from the academy a fair crack. Maybe you’re happy with this acceptance of mediocrity at the club where it’s ok to finish 4th or 3rd and go down like a lead balloon in the second round of the play offs. These are facts. I wish they weren’t and we’d be sitting here having won at least one Grand Final but we haven’t. |
