Don't die with the music in you:Humans, male/MALE9.JPG

Quote: ninearches "In all honesty Wigan were more dominant throughout the game & we were lucky not to have conceded more points. Their game management was much better & left us starting sets in the wrong part of the field, too near our own line. In possession ,Wigan were making more yards than us.
One of our biggest drawbacks though is the inability to breech goal line defence. The ball was merrily going from side to side across the pitch tonight with massive gaps in the Wigan defence & no one had the nouse or ability to throw a dummy. The chances were there but the execution wasn't. The ability to beat a man when running a kick back in would also be a useful attribute.

Well done Wigan,well deserved !'"

All the above is true.

If I had spent my hard earned to watch that as a neutral I'd be well hacked off.

As it is I spent my hard earned watching that as a Wire fan and I am thoroughly disappointed with my teams performance.

With all the time we spent going from side to side we should be the Warrington Crabs not the Warrington Wolves.

A very poor day at the office......

First accept sadness. Realise that without losing 70% of the time, winning wouldn't be such a relief.:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_32990.jpg

Commiserations I thought before the game you were nailed on to win tonight with Wigan's injuries. A typical GF type of match that I think
suited Wigan more than Warrington with defence being the key factor. I just felt Warrington's best chance was taking the game to Wigan and throwing the ball around more but if anything Wigan were more adventurous with the ball. It's a real shame because you've played some exciting footie again this year but you just fell short when it mattered most. Where do you go from here after another GF defeat? I don't know because it's a real mystery why you can't perform to your best in a GF considering the quality you see throughout the season.

Bottling it is the wrong phrase. To bottle something is to not turn up from the start.

I always thought that to bottle it you had to have been in with a chance in the first place. I think in all the games mentioned in the list earlier in this thread that is the case, but last night I think 6-2 flattered us and we were dominated from the first minute. I don't think we ever looked like winning last night, so I can't say we bottled it.

I think a major differences with Wigan this last few weeks is that they have gone away from winning ugly & started playing open rugby which is what we are renowned for. Unfortunately, when someone plays us at our own game we are left wanting.

When we went ahead I knew they would come back, when they went ahead I knew we wouldn't. Depressing really.

p.s: Bailey was godawful last night.

Yes we didn't bottle it, we just had no answer to their forwards.... they were comfortably finishing every set in our half. Our line speed and aggression in contact just wasn't there.

Sims, george king, Bailey, Wilde were just out of their depth against the Wigan pack, absolutely no go forward and you cannot afford so many passengers.

Spot on. At the [istart[/i of the second half we were making 30m in a set of six on average. That won't win you a training session let alone a GF.

What's the deal with Wilde? Last night, and in the semi, he was subbed after barely 20 minutes and only returned for the final quarter, so why have him starting at all? Seems an odd tactic. Toby King (Wilde's replacement) played more minutes in the second row than him.

Name-checking Wilde in the dissection is akin to slapping puppies, or taking McDonalds off fat children, but this is a day for the truth, and this is the truth. Here, today, he is a long, long way from the finished article, has yet to convince me he will be good enough, was a passenger last night and allayed with a weak, ineffective bench we got found out.

And before anyone leaps on me and their keyboards in faux-outrage, and asks me who I'd have played instead, I suggested T.King in the back-row in the week, which is basically what happened after 20 mins. thus weakening our interchange.

We should of started with Toby King at 2nd row. With Wilde as sub.

In the cold light of day when you look at those four we cannot be surprised our pack was dominated. Buck stops with Smith. All his signings and selections.

Smith seems to be a coach who can win with a team assembled by others but fails to build his own team. All gone very stale, every coach has a shelf life.

He built this team: only 3 remained from 2013 GF. This team won the LLS, and got both finals. That might not be enough for you and a lot of others; fair enough. However, it's better than 95%+ of our history, and make my words, in years to come, we'll be begging for a team that fails as well as this one has.
