You took photos?.......We'd just won the LLS, epic performance great result and you thought hey there's not many Hull fans staying to cheer our boys very poor form
How bizarre

What are you on about!?
I never said anything about that. Some Hull fans did stay not like the other poster said. Yes I have pics of them applauding us.

| Some nice comments from Adam Pearson in the match programme about Tony Smith, describing how he accepted defeat at Wembley as classy and magnanimous and bringing credibility to the sport.

| I'd like to add my congratulations Wire. Fully deserved. On the subject of fans not staying behind. I was one of the fans who left but only because I don't live in Hull and had to get my skates on to the station for the last train, which I made by 3 minutes. I would have liked to applaud both teams. TV games always finish later due to all the Video Ref calls. Would have thought most FC fans would have stayed to say thanks to Yeamo on his last home game though. And for that reason and to say thanks to the club for a wonderful year I will be going to Wigan on Friday. Win or lose its been a great ride. Good luck Wire for the rest of the season , if we don't win the GF, I hope you do because I think we've been the best two teams in 2016

Mummy duck is now thoroughly depressed. SHE was the one that was famous for losing five in a row........until the 2011 GF!!!!!: |
|
| Couldnt make Friday but was there in 2011 when we won the shield but weren't presented with it. Quite a few Hull fans came over to applaud the Warrington fans that night (also heard subsequently that a few of them "educated" some of their own younger fans who thought it a good idea to try and wind us up). IIRC that was the year when the Huddersfield fans unfurled the large flag at the end of the game. The main difference between the two events, in 2011 we had already won it and Huddersfield hadnt just lost it as a result.
There is certainly some validity in the comment about how quickly stadia are to clear these days. Add to that the cup final was on a Saturday afternoon and the LLS game finished late on a Friday night and some people will have left not out of "disrespect" but simply the logisitics of getting home.

| Well done Wire. Probably the hardest trophy of all to win and you did it with some style which again isn't easy, given the flopping, the lying on and slow rucks that pass as defence in the modern game.

| Quote: NtW "I generally gloss over the drivel you post, but go on, I'll bite. True some Hull fans stayed after the hooter, but for the vast majority it was only to applaud their team. Fair play to them for that, cos compared to Saints for example, whose ability to empty OT after GF defeat must be second to none, they looked like super-fans.
But as for the 'section' that stayed for the shield, if there was 50, I'd eat my (non-existent) hat. I always think it's a poor show when people don't have the decency to applaud the opposition, especially when it's something like Hull doing what they did at Wembley. Maybe my view is different as I see it as RL first, Wire second.'"
Why the would you stay behind to applaud another team lifting a trophy? Do you not have a life? And why would it matter to you that others do?

In that case why would it matter to you what others think?

| I never stayed to watch FC lift the Cup & i wouldn't expect opposing fans to stay at Old Trafford to watch us win the SL Trophy IF we win it.

There was me thinking it might be considered a mark of respect, paid to a team that had just vanquished my own. My bad.
In the case of Hull at the CCF, it was also a small piece of history in the game. I'd paid my money, no-one seemed bothered about kicking me out of my seat, I was in no huge rush to get back anywhere (dinner was booked to allow plenty of time post-match in case I was watching us get the trophy). And having been to plenty of neutral finals (they were the only ones Wire fans got to go to for many a year until recent seasons don't forget), it had become something of a habit to stick around. Suppose I could have left 5 minutes earlier to get in the tube queue.
I think it's a shame more fans of opposing teams don't stick around to do the same. I think it's very poor form when people don't even bother to applaud their own team off after a final. But don't worry, I'm not losing sleep over it.
Like I said, I more bothered about RL generally than Wire specifically. Guess that means I don't have a life. Sorry if this upsets you so much.

| Like I said. A few Hull fans did stick around to my surprise. Now you can see why I said I took some pics of them. I wouldn't have done it.
I only remember flashes of 1975 vs Widnes but I certainly saw the Pies pick up the CC at Wembley on 1990. That was enough for me, my watching the opposition having their day in the sun was over.

I didn't stay but you're right - it is a mark of respect and I know deep down it's the right thing to do. I've only been to two GFs and I'm only going if we get there. The first one (although the whole stadium experience was horrid) I stayed and did applaud Leeds. As soon as the hooter went vs Wigan I was gone and I'd do the same this time if we lost to them. No way am I watching them celebrate. Wigan, St Helens, Widnes (ha!) I'd not stay and applaud. Pretty much anyone else I would, well maybe not Salford either (double ha).

| Anyone who'd want to stay and watch Wigan, Saints or Widnes celebrate winning a final where they've just beaten you, has a screw loose.
