Quote: mark_m "How does this fit with players who have been playing in NWC over the Winter? Who are the governing body?'" The primary aim of the team is to open up playing the game to new areas where at the moment there is no team for those who want to play, we have already had interest in playing from a number of local children new to the game and that is what is important to us - spreading the word and getting as many young people playing as possible.
If players currently playing in the NWC wish to join the team then we will of course not stop them from doing so - the decision will lie with them and their parents but we certainly will not be poaching players from other clubs.
This season we will be playing in the Under 12's of the rlmidlands leaguerl and have worked closely with staff from the league to ensure that everything is in place for the new season when it begins in May with plans to expand further in future seasons.
We have recently appointed Ben Povey as head coach ( www.therfl.co.uk/community/news_ ... p?id=13486 ) and are looking forward to season starting!

| The main aim is to increase participation in the sport, theres no point taking players from 1 club and bringing them in. We have applied for and received grants that will allow us to go in to schools in our area and generate interest so we can be totally self reliant.
We have had inquiries for parents from existing players, and although we are not in a position to exclude anyone we do not want to to harm any club.
The Midlands league is a RFL league, NWC is a BARLA league, our league rules state a player can only be registered for 1 midlands club.

| starting off with 12s, to get the ball rolling, looking at adding new age groups each season. I hope the 12s develop into 13s and we have enough demand to keep the 12s, we're also looking at the possibility of an 8s for next year.
Theres no point launching a team without gauging demand, we're treating this as a business - and I think it shows with the people who we've put in place running the club both on and off the field

NWC are governed by Barla, Midlands is governed by the RFL, theres 2 governing bodies covering 2 different seasons.
No one is excluded but we're not here to cheery pick or poach other teams players, the ethos is to get more kids in to the game, one which we would fail if we flooded the team full of Woolston, Rylands & Crosfields kids

I was just wondering what would happen if NWC regsitered players played over the Summer. Looks like it wouldn't cause a problem then?

No, it's no problem, they wouldn't need to "de-register" with their winter clubs or anything like that, as the winter and summer have different governing bodies it's not an issue.

| not true, they have to de register from NWC to re-register for summer teams.
I've got that from NWC management. Applys at all age groups up to under 18's.

| Because junior players require cards I think you'll find it's a bit different than open age Neil. Open age players only sign for one season, and whilst juniors re-register every year, if they don't re-register for their club the following year they still have to transfer. A player can only have a card for one club, and rugby league services issue the cards for both RFL and BARLA teams. Players would have to de-register from their BARLA club to register for an RFL club and visa versa at the end of your season to avoid conflicts and the database exploding!

Now that DOES put a different slant on it. This should be made easier as effectively the two things are entirely separate!
