Really? Decent signing but that isn’t ‘special’ though.

Powells a competitor that's come through a hard working system. Although i'm not over the moon with his signing he's not a bad player to add to the squad at all.
Also ensures certain people can't slack off, good competition for places next year

I know Walker has been given the no 9 shirt but i wonder if there has been a bit of doubt with him especially after hearing the Sam Powell signing. Walker is a good player but there is always that little irk that can he really cut it or is he big enough to play in the middle.

Wigan fan but I think Powell is great signing for you.

Absolute rock in defence (which I feel Walker has struggled with), doesnt offer too much with the ball, he won’t be scooting (unless it was a Wigan tactics not to run from dummy half).

But what he will give you is an elite attitude, will to win, and probably raise standards at training.

A culture signing which looking at your squad is needed.

In a big intense game, I can see Powell starting and doing the tough stuff then being Walker on.

I'm praying he plays well as I don't want to spend another season defending Powell.

Looking through his playing record I had forgotten just how much time he has played at Scrum Half.

If Powell drives up standards and professionalism at the club that can only be a good thing. He could also act as an experienced sounding board for Danny Walker as he settles in as our no 9.

He absolutely destroyed the Australian academy when he played scrum half but unfortunately he lost pace.

There's been suggestions on here that a few players are Widnes-bound, does Powell's signing point to Dwyer being one of them?

So long as we can get them back quickly, in case of injury/suspension, it's got to be a good idea. It's much better than them not playing although some ought to play for the reserves. They could still train at Wire.

I would send Danny Walker to Widnes on loan.
Then bring him back once he has learned how to tackle.

Rotate Powell and Dwyer.

Also, Let’s be honest that squad unveiled yesterday, shows we have about 18 good players.
The rest is scratchy, hopefully we don’t get many injuries, otherwise Sam will have to work some magic.

I was suprised by the Dwyer signing because I felt his game was a too similar to Walkers.
Powell is a different 9. so I can see lots of competition if we keep all 3.
I can still see Dwyer moving though.

I do wonder who has what hand in what signing though.
