Newman very promising but going to miss a big spell now with his injury. Percival a skilful player but looks fragile ( not a good thing for a World Cup squad spot). Gildart is a good player if a bit lightweight to front up against Aus/NZ and even Tongan backs. Hardaker is much better at fullback. Jake Connor not mentioned here, seems to have lost it , I'm afraid. Huddersfield's Wardle looks good to me. All things considered, King can't be too far off an England place.'"
On VT, someone mentioned the Farnworth lad who has been playing regularly for Brisbane this year - Personally think it's a long shot and based purely on him playing ok at a higher level, but with the lack of any standout centres in our league, it wouldn't be a shock if Wane took a punt?

| Looking at the list above, it shows we are short of quality centres I think.
I am certain we'll see a revival of Watkins - that's just what Watson does.
Gildart is good
Newman is one for the future.
Percival good but getting too many injuries too often.
Lyne seems to blow a bit not and cold.
Hardacker can do a job at centre but much better at full back. Don't think he is a natural centre.
Toby has improved without a doubt and doesn't make too many dumb reads (excusing that one against Wigan).
I actually really like him at 2nd row - he seems to be able to show off his creativity more but just my opinion.

| I like king I think hes a season off being ready for international level he could play now but I think that if he doesn't shine he will lose his spot.
Percival gildart if fit are our best options. Connor is too inconsistent and sees himself at 6 so I wouldn't be keen on him at centre but if he gets a good run of form he would cause the Australian nz sides the biggest problems.
King needs to stand out a bit more especially in big games he played well in the semi final but he needs to be the game breaker in a few of the tight games to stand out a bit more.
This is no way a criticism of him he has shown potential early in and glimpses of what he is capable of but of late hes a lot more consista t and confident and has improved an awful lot.
I dont get the second row yes he can play there but currie can play centre why would we put our best second row at centre and best centre at second row ?? Hes being talked about on this group as a potential gb centre why change it and more than likely get a centre whose not as good as king ??

| Like Greg inglis?
King is very good in second row and centre. Our whole team played better with him at second row. The second row these days is a key position to link the forwards and backs and Currie and King is a fantastic second row. I do like what Hughes and Clark bring in defence but there is a huge price to pay for it in attack especially if they're on the pitch at the same time. Next year Gelling and inglis in centre with king and currie in 2nd row for me. Hughes and Clark can share 13 and bench spots, hughes starting at 13 ideally.
For the time being we don't really have any sensible centre cover with mamo out injured so King has to stay in the centres with Gelling. It's not a bad thing he's a brilliant centre too. I actually think Kings long term preference will be based on what gives him the best chance of an international call up and that's very likely to be centre but with small international squad sizes showing the versatility to play both could be a big feather in his cap.

Possibly. But inglis wont be long term really.
We will have to see what our squad looks like at the start of next season to get a better idea we could have inglis at full back too...just throwing that out there widdop to oz ratch to 6 inglis to fullback and we use widdops money on a prop ??
Our pack would be extremely light with king currie Hughes as the back rows we dont have the props to have them all in tha pack together imo. King currie bmm would be an interesting back row tho.

| That pass for Ashton’s try was quality. A try of his own and created two others.

He's class, so composed, great timing and knows how to take a defender out of the defensive line. Currie has been good as well.

| Much more composed with ball in hand now, times his passes well and puts his wingers in space. We should drop him and put Jason Clark at centre immediately.

| He is a real asset. King is maturing into a top quality centre.
Power, speed and now real game intelligence... great defence as well.. also a real threat in the air.... getting better and better every game we see him... He has absolutely nailed that spot down for me.

Im not usually one to be all about the I told you so but I've liked him since the start. He forced a dropout against Wigan in his first or second season when there was nothing on and none of the more experienced players wanting to make a call. That was the moment for me, really good off the cuff move and the vision to hurt the opposition when we had no right to. I'm sure I said somewhere a couple of years back that he reminds me a lot of Simon Grix, underappreciated and underrated by his own fans in the early days and then turns out to be one of the best players at the club.

Probably agree with all of that.
For me the most improved and better option has to be Toby King.
I`ve only seen him on Sky but rarely seen him have a bad game.
Him D.Clark and Currie were the standouts last night against Leeds.

| Really pleased with the progression we have seen in Toby's game this season. Hopefully, GI can help him continue to improve.
