| The clue is in the term, Supporter ie support your team, your players, your club, your town. The club had a(not her) great victory last night, every player, inexperienced and experienced gave everything for the club, getting us to the Grand Final. So what happens, we then single out an individual and accuse them of being useless. I just don't get it. He could have done some things better, but none of us are perfect. We can all have opinions on players, the team, tactics etc and this site enables it but let's keep it constructive not destructive.
For me, Gidley had a great game last night, he helped to steer the team around and scored a great try. One other player who has been singled out for criticism on here over the last few weeks is Stefan Ratchford, he also had another great game for me. Let's get behind the lads and Support them in the GF.

| Gidley took some big hits last night.
We still have the problem of finding it difficult to score from close to the line. It would be nice for Gidley ,or anyone else for that matter, to throw defences into disarray with a well timed dummy. We spend too much time with the ball just going from one side of the pitch to the other & eating into the tackle count & wasting energy.

| Kurt Gidley was quality last night, he lead the team around the park and the game management was 100% better than the Wigan game 2 weeks ago.
He has been a signing that has seen increased levels of professionalism at the club. A signing that the club needed at the right time. I am not quite sure we would have ended up with 2 Final appearances and finished as League leaders without his presence at our club.

| OP asks for thoughts on his season as a whole, then justifies their opinion by criticizing him in one game.
Gidley made the SL dream team.
In 20 years, Warrington have only had a halfback named in there once before.
Bring back Chris Bridge and GOB in the halves...

| Quote: Quickening "I cannot think of a single good kick he did in the whole game, that one I mentioned was an example of a school boy error.
Doing aimless "bombs" which don't go very high or move much, or kicking into touch around the 20 metre line are not good kicks.
We should have been trapping Saints behind their line, on there line or doing quality chips to the corner with how we dominated field position at times.
Watch the nrl final on Sunday, and they will show how execute kicks that hurt the opponent, not just give them the ball back which invites pressure, which we seen yesterday.'"
They weren't aimless, they stopped saints catching in goal and rushing to start on the 20 and made sure saints started their sets as close to their line as possible. It was hugely important not to gives cheap ground last night and the kicks Gidley was putting in did just the job. Sure I would have liked us to test their line more on our final plays but managing the territory is just as important at this stage of the season (if not more so) and that box was ticked.

I never said he was useless, no need to use hyperbole to go off on a random tangent about what makes a good supporter.
I just don't think he was great last night, and hasn't been a lot of the season. It doesn't surprise me he got motm last night or got into the dream team because they go to the big names a lot of the time.
I personally just don't think he justifies the big part of the cap he takes up.
A couple of controversial decisions don't go our way and we lose to that saints team last night. I think that is because we still lack a composed player to lead us around in high pressure situations.

How many drop outs did saints have to do last night, considering we spent so much time in their half... how many tries did we score off kicks, how many times did we trap them within their ten metre line?
Giving quality teams a scrum on their 20 metre line, or an aimless bomb which gets caught on their 20 metre line isn't good enough.
A win obviously glosses over these type of things, I just hope we don't lose the grand final because of this.

You must have been an awesome player in your youth.

i quite liked patton doing that a few times, gidley does drop the shoulder but it's in slow motion rather than BOOM.
I'm liking patton in this team, last year he looked really out of his depth, he's fitting in nicely at the moment, that being said the "sky narrative" had dec patton lost in the wilderness at the end of last season, apparently, not that he was an academy lad making his debut season. Crazy commentary.

| Gidley has been very good this year but I agree with some that the last tackle kick options could have been more incisive. He is not Cooper Cronk but we don't play like Melbourne. The good thing is that Patton is getting plenty of experience in that department. It would be easy to go down the road Leeds did with Sinfield and we give it to Gidley on every last play. The big game experience Patton has over the last 2 weeks is worth 20 games against the likes of Wakefield and Hull KR.

| Yes Gidley's kicks leave something to be desired but he came up with a try at a crucial point and some superb tackles. I suspect the guidance the is giving to Patton is vital.

| I thought he got caught in two minds on a couple of occasions which meant we let Saints off the hook with a couple of ordinary kicks...
I though Patton's kicking was the better of the two half backs. but Gidley is stronger than he looks, he's got an awful lot of those short ball crash tries that second rowers should be scoring......he'll do for me.
and as mentioned hes an experienced old head that we need...he's no Jon Wilkin that's for sure

| Ok he defends well...he kicks well...he organises well...runs the ball in well...but what has Gidley ever done for us?
Having said that he can't kick the ball like Ashton Sims...!

| Gidley was great last night....scored a good try....put in some decent kicks...showed some leadership..made some outstanding tackles...the one against LMS (or bin bag head) was a game changer.
