| Happy days! Happy days! Is this the end for the Wids? Three years out is a long way off. I cant see MR Money Man hanging around with no real possibility of getting something for his money!

'" Feel a bit sorry for them really, although they dont deserve to be in due to the financial situation, we were in a similar situation not that long ago but luckily for us it didnt have the effect that it has had on Widnes

| It is a shame and an extremely difficult decision to choose between CC, Salford and Widnes. In then end I'd have gone with what they have.
But Widnes if they can show sensible financial management over the next 3 years will be extremely well placed I would imagine when the next licences are up.
Wakefield would be in trouble I'd imagine if it doesn't further its ground plans by that stage. Its been promising a new ground for 10 years. Same goes if Cas, Salford stadium plans go south.
Celtic's ground is the main weakness and its location in a small former mining town. I would hope they will address the former over the next 3 years - one of the ideas of licensing is to enable teams to make longer term decision - build a ground knowing it has some stability.

I do feel sorry for Widnes I would rather have them in than either Salford or the Celts........it seems the RFL have been suckered by the many promises of new stadium.....
Salford planned to be in their fancy new stadium five years ago...

| I do think the RFL have wimped out a bit with their choice. There is always a lot of talk about expansion of the game and I really think they've missed a great opportunity.
Personally I don't think we need the luxury of 2 teams in one city (Hull and Hull KR) and Castleford and Wakefield, geographically very close and both were shaky on the license possibility.
I'm pleased Celtic were awarded a license but I'm not too convinced about the inclusion of Salford who are very close to ourselves, Wigan and Saints. Even including Salford I do feel we'd have been better dropping Wakey and putting in a team like Tolouse.
I feel sorry for Widnes and the derby being back would have been nice but I do think another 3 years of careful financial management will mean they're pretty much bang on for one next time round. I think only 9 months after entering administration is probably too soon for them to be given the opportunity and I'm sure that was probably one of the only reasons they were left out.
