| Quote: Jack Burton "The Minikin one was a shocker. Even with it going up as a no try, I thought it was clearly grounded. I thought the rest were correct though'"
The video ref comments make it even more bizarre when they are saying about the hand still being on the ball, and then suddenly it’s No Try.
So little time left it didn’t matter, but it did seem really suspicious.

| I thought it was our first poor performance in what has been an outstanding year. We looked tired and sluggish from the start and were off the pace for the whole game. Wigan out enthused us. As others have said though, 8/9 and top of the league is way beyond what I was expecting at this stage. I did think the bench selection was odd and hope we have a more forward orientated bench next Thursday.
As a side point, not sure why Green wasn’t given the ball once in his spell on the pitch. That was a bit odd.

| Wigan deserved to win and the interesting thing for me now is how we respond against Saints with basically the same team.
We were bound to lose at some point - just gutted it was this match.
Dudsons' stupidity cost us that game. No-one else in my view.
I couldn't believe they allowed the first try - at least 3 off side at the kick (both feet need to be behind the ball at the kick remember). That was a really poor decision and seems to be glossed over by the video ref and the commentators. He had a bit of a mare.
The second try looked bounced but when looked at it slo-mo it didn't for me.
Correct decision on the Drinky no try and I can see why he disallowed the Minikin try but that could have gone either way.
Wigan's defensive effort was impressive, and we never were really allowed to get into the match. They bombed 3 or 4 chances and we could have been 20 down at half time. We never built pressure and made errors at key times.
Smith had a better kicking game than our halves. They also managed to slow the ruck better than we did - that's my interpretation.
Surprised that DP has said we might be getting 1 prop back next week - Harrison presumably as he's said Bullock is not ready.
Looked a great atmosphere with a record attendance. Shame about the result.

| The trouble is that our back up forwards are obviously deemed not ready yet to play against a top super league side. I think Powell thinks they just wouldn't cope physically & get hurt. So we just had to give Vaughan, Sam & Maguire too long on the pitch & ask our backs to do some tough carries. With that in mind you can see why Russell plays he takes it up as well as anyone.

| TBH I'm more surprised there wasn't much mention of the clear forward pass for Wigan's first try - the ball was passed on the 10m line and collected at least half a metre in front of it !
The other VR decisions could have gone either way.
That said, Wigan should have been clear in the first half, they bombed a few good chances and we just clung in there, not offering much in attack due to lack of decent field position.
Great tough game, some unfortunate calls, but even in defeat it's a heck of a lot better than last year.

We were munched for position by a better pack, and a quality kicking game from Harry Smith.
Looking ahead, despite only a 7 points loss against Wigan with only 1 prop out, and nobody else to come in, they are pretty much where they are, Wigan won’t get much better than that…
Whereas Wire have got another 3/4 gears to come back yet.
Harrison Bullock Dudson Philbin.
Who out of the 2 coaches with feel most comfortable about the coming weeks?'"
For your Harrison Bullock Dudson Philbin , I’ll give you Field Cust Cooper Smithies

The point is, all our absentees are in the forwards which on a wet night reduced our go-forward massively.

| I won't repeat what has been said already, plenty of good comments IMO, but I would say the team looked tired /jaded to me, presumably the shortage in the pack and last weeks game contributed. But one issue for me is the lack of depth in the squad. Wigan hold a significant advantage in this respect, and that is likely to be important at the business end of the season.

| One thing that irks me (well quite a lot irks me actually, but lets stick to the point) is the number of posts here and elsewhere questioning the players desire last night?
Heavily outgunned and in tough conditions I thought they ran their blood to water, to a man. Some didn't perform as well as in previous weeks but the effort, desire and commitment was still plain to see.

Harrison has just been selected in the England squad, so he must be imminent, which would be a big boost.

Have there been many? I haven't noticed any. I agree about the effort and desire: if that hadn't been evident we would have conceded a landslide score.

| We looked that tired I reckon Wakefield could have kept us scoreless in that second half. Wigan can enjoy their win, but to only score 2 tries(one debatable)against a team they completely dominated isn't that impressive. Salford would've put 30 odd points on us last night. After watching that game I reckon the happiest fans will be those of Hull kr and Salford who will think they have a genuine chance this year.

Cooper isn’t coming back soon, which of the other 3 are props?

Singleton injured in the first 5 minutes meaning we were down a prop and had to run with 16 men for 70 odd minutes.
All this we had so and so missing is really poor from a section of fans.
Wigan had a number of key players out an injury affected prop rotation and at one point had 2 specialist 9s on the field…with neither playing at 9.
I’ve even read some bleating on about losing Mickael and him not being replaced, whose choice was that? Wigan never replaced Bateman who was obviously a part of the plans for 2023.
You had a lot of salary cap on the field in your middles.
Both teams had players sat in the stands.
You lost to a team that were better on the day and who produced a dominant display despite losing a middle early in the game, having 2 out one injured and one suspended.
