| I’d rather have Kyle Laybutt to be honest. And Drinkwater seemed quite content in France so not sure whether he’d welcome a move back to the wet and cold.

| Okay, so after watching two PNG games I’m starting to like Laybutt. Good long kicking game, good defence and dangerous near the line.
EDIT: In fact let’s take a few of these players. If only our forwards could have run that hard last year…

EDIT
Been thinking the same about Laybutt. He's 27, so a perfect age for experience and has room for plenty of years. 1 try and 2 assists so far, and he looks really dangerous.
I do like Brandon Wakeham as well though. I have missed a lot of this conversation so I don't know if there has been any more weight to his rumours... he was shut out vs Australia for the most part but got Fiji the opening try. He had 3 assists vs Italy, kicked plenty of goals, he completely ran their game.
Maybe if we don't let Mitchell Moses fly home and we just hand him another blue and yellow kit, he might not notice.
But there have been a few decent 'unknown' players at this tournament to be honest, in all positions.

| I'd rather have Drinkwater to be honest, we know what he can do, and he is already used to Super league and the different conditions.
Laybutt is holding out for Brisbane i believe someone said, and Wakeham isn't rated by the canterbury fans, who think he'd be a better hooker than a half.
So if i had the choice i'd offer Drinkwater a 2 year deal.

Agree, preseason almost here would hope that we had all deals done before then. And starting to fear if this does not come off we will be stuck with Ratchford, I have already said would prefer Hayes or Dean there if we not sorted out.

Smokescreen . The deal is already done , my source informs me it was completed 10 days ago, the initial attempt to sign Oliver Gildart who was in talks with DP obviously fell through ,
Got this from the comments section on Guardian website.

If only we’d ordered a slice of lemon drizzle cake with that spicy pumpkin latte, Gildart would be having his name painted on a Ford Mondeo right now…. that’s why we’ll always be small-time.
