| I've just found out that Mr Tumble is turning on the Christmas lights. What happens if there's some kind of Freaky Friday type mix up when the switch is thrown and we end up with a clown in our halves next year.

| Well Mr Tumble seems a hell of a lot more organised than our half backs were last year, so bring it on.
He also has a better bag of tricks.

| My friend in Australia has just text me to say that it is in todays Australian Press that Tyrone Roberts agent has asked Titans to match Warringtons offer as Roberts wants to stay.

I don't think anyone doubts that if the Titans match, or even get near to matching our offer, that he wont stay on the Gold Coast.

| If this is correct from the Aussie press then its time to back out this deal before he comes over and goes back to his wife and young child. We have obviously offered a good wedge and he hasn't accepted, its clear his heart is not in this deal. At this stage we cant afford a potential star to start well and return under a cloud. I guess Mr Price is dealing with this while he is still over there?

| I dont want a player whos only come for the wage. If he comes because titans wont match what we offer then i dont want him regardless of the ability. We dont need another Sandow.

| If he does come I reckon we'll get a good year out of him, before he trots out the old homesick excuse. I'm pessimistic about any player coming over who isn't at the end of their career

| I disagree. No Aussie players hearts will ever be in a SL deal. Australia is their home county and a better standard of competition.
Whatever their reasons for coming over; older player looking for a decent pension in their 30s, a youngster who can't get a start in in the NRL, or average player seeing a better earning potential over here, no Aussie will be desperate to play over here. That's why we have to offer them an incentive above what's on the table for them over there - be it cash, regular rugby or the ability to be a star player "big fish in a small pond".
If we took that attitude and walked away from any deal where the player didn't declare there was always Wire in their blood, there'd be no antipodean signings over here ever.
I'd have more of a problem if we made an approach for Roberts, and Gold Cost instantly let him go without a fight. The fact they're fighting to keep him is a good sign, and you can't blame the bloke for listening to all offers on the table and getting the best deal for himself, be it over here or back home.

| Exactly. SL to NRL is like MLS to the Premier League.
L.A. Galaxy signed Beckham when he was thirty something not twenty something

Absolutely.
Just because the primary reason for him signing for us would be money motivated, doesn't mean he wont be putting in 100% effort while he is here - he's a professional Rugby League player.
If his character is sound, I have no problems with that.
