We ultimately lost out to saints despite offering what sounds like a lot more money. Either he's been put off by the coaching staff or wanted to work with Holbrook again. Either way it's disappointing.

Embarrassing from us....almost as cringey as Duckie's woeful digging. We lost out....thought we had a bit more class than to publicly and uncouthly talk about money and the man's character. Also if barba turned down more cash for professional and personal reasons then that's a sign of decent character. We're losing the plot on and off the field at the minute.

the whole rugby League world knew about Ben Barba and his Cocaine bust, most knew of his alcohol and gambling problems and some will have known about his alleged assault. Anyone looking to pay a huge amount of money for him will have known all of this.

I'm not disappointed we have missed out on Barba but I am absolutely gutted at this shocking story.

they stated that he signed because he was coached by Holbrook before ?? When was this? Holbrook has never been a first team coach before and he coached the reserve side at the Bulldogs when Barba played in the under 20's.

Why the hell didnt we get Kevin Sinfield then? he really was coached by Tony Smith once.....
