It goes in hand with not understanding it.
But fathom is the inability to grasp or work it out.
You cannot fathom it because it's my opinion and not yours.
I don't consider you to be wrong with your rating of this wcs game.
I am open minded enough to welcome other posters view and reasoning.
I can myself see why some posters consider this an important game.
Likewise I can see why so many fans, especially the younger ones, see the GF as the most important game of the season.
I don't, I'm old school and would swap a GF every time to win at Wembley.
Wembley for me is the traditional and the glamour cup and the event that earns a club the most money in merchandise.
I respect all views and will listen and understand, but I don't have to agree.
I keep on banging the drum about being Warringtonian and Lancastrian, I hear some say their Cheshion..? (sp) I know their reasons why but I don't have to say I am from Cheshire just because Warrington Borough Council (ltd) says I am.'"
Just look it up, man, and you'll see that it means that I can't understand, but stronger. I can see it happening, but I just don't get it.
As for your origins, there is no escaping the location of your birth. If you were born after 1971 then you are a Warringtonian but also a Cheshire dude, 'cause that's where Warrington has been since 1971. Prior to that, you'd be Lancastrian.

You are miles off being correct.
I've said enough about our boundary on here.
I'm not starting again.

While that is obviously correct we are part of something big, something that could be massive in a few years and the tickets sales don't match that, if we weren't involved we would be calling all clubs not selling out and moaning about not being in it, but time and again we see the negative rl fans knocking anything new or different.
I am proud my club were one of the pioneers for this and think we need to show the aussies that we are taking this seriously with good crowds, the prices are not that bad South is £22.50 and West is £20.

| not bought mine yet............I'm going, and I'm looking forward to it more than the Salford Game.........
Ask a Widnes fan which game they'd like us to lose more......they'd like us to lose both of course, but they would hate it if we won a "World club Series" game,....... absolutely hate it....

Irish I'm not knocking it.
I'm just not bigging it up.
There was an opportunity for a proper series, to take the concept seriously, and the RFL failed.
It's more than a watered down series...it's not a series at all. None of the three matches are connected in anyway. The only things that holds them together is that fact that all the three games involve club teams from either side of the globe playing on the same weekend.
Yet still I am compelled to watch my team play in it.

I think the Chemical neighbours would enjoy us losing at home to Salford on Saturday more!

they bang on about 1989 like it was bigger than the Rourkes drift test ..... In Reality it was a novelty back then it was the first offical WCC, plus it was on BBC which added to the novelty.
because they haven't won anything since, widnes winning it gets more important to them as each year passes... to them its champions league standard..!!
We've lost to Salford loads of times they never once bang on about those, but if we lose to St George they'll be all over it....
but I appreciate its not your point of view so fair do's...

| Irish my pal, I'm not knocking it.
The terms friendly or exhibition game doesn't really fit right about the stature and uniqueness or the match up, that I agree but unfortunately that is all it is since the the opportunity to make it a proper series was missed.
That isn't wholly the fault of the club's involved or us as fans, I rest that solely at the RFL.
If Knocking the RFL is what some perceive as knocking the concept, then I hold my hands up and apologise.

I don't think the club could have promoted the game much more than they have to be honest. Ticket prices aren't unreasonable either.

| Moan moan moan. Fact is regardless of what the rfl have dropped the ball on (when don't they?) we get to play an Aussie side and that doesn't happen to often. I'll be very proud if we win and imagine if we are the only British team out of the 3 to come out on top, we wouldn't half be able to wind up the Stains and Pies with that little Cherry. You'll notice I said IF before anyone jumps on me.

| I'm not moaning.
I'll be thrilled at the win and I'm confident we will, I also think Stains and Pies will both lose there games.
We are imo better than our neighbours and have the easiest if the 3 Ozzy teams.
I will be betting that as a treble too.

To be fair - the only team with any bragging rights will be Saints, as Champions against the NRL Champions. Wigan and Wire are up against the 8th and 11th best NRL teams in what are glorified and essentially meaningless friendlies.
Don't get me wrong I'm looking forward to seeing all three games live immensely, and they will be competitive, I hope, but I'm not kidding myself that the results mean anything (other than Saints v Rabbitohs)

Fair comment, but, if we want this series to take off and possibly develop into something more meaningful, something that would attract sponsors and prize money and therefore a reason for everyone to take it seriously and desire to be in it, then we need convincing crowds and on field performances in all the games.
Unlike some others, I hope that all the SL teams win, bragging rights apart, longer term it must be good for the game?

Maybe not. In that case the attendance will be what it will be and a true reflection of the appetite.
