good luck to 'em. We know the rules at the start of the season. If we had finished 5th we would have been trying just as hard to progress.

Whilst i agree there shouldn't be a top 8 (top 6 at most imo) we won the GF fair and square and that makes us Champions its the same in the NRL league leaders are "Minor Premiers" and again the winners of the GF are Champions.
Also there seems to be a lot of finger pointing at the RFL but its the CLUBS who voted in the current format agreed to club call and set out the 8 team structure.
I agree we should have a more prestigous trophy for 1st place and more prize £££ and i also think 2nd 3rd and 4th getting a 2nd chance is ridiculous.
Now looking at what we've achieved in the last 2 years is much more a credit to us as a club and team than it is as a negative on the comp.
As Champions EVERY team in the comp raises there games against us we've also played more games than any other team this year which included the WCC.
There may be structural problems with the P/O system and not enough recognition for top spot but ateod the day WE ARE CHAMPIONS and we've earned it end of.

Yes and I think almost everyone on this thread agrees with you. Just thought I'd reinforce that at page 16 so people don't scuttle back to the Leeds board and proclaim "ALL WARRINGTON FANS DON'T THINK WE DESERVE IT SOUR GRAPES AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!".

just the odd numpty on here but the vast majority are knowledgable and a credit to their club

To be fair mate i think that's a given as should be trying to class any numpty causing grief as a "fan" of any club because imo no matter what shirt they wear if they are p!$$ed up or otherwise causing grief then they simply aren't RL "fans".

Getting back OT

we need to accept that the 3 MAJOR trophies available WCC GF & CC are all knock out cup competitions and that the LLS is a MINOR trophy.

It has always been that way in the SL era and largely throughout the preceding 50 years in various formats.

I understand that fans want value for money in terms of the ST but the difficulty is if they reduce the number of SL teams to make the league a more intense competition week on week then the clubs will need to charge a much higher ticket price per game.

Maybe we could go with this format - 10 SL Teams League with a reintroduced Top 5 Play Off.

Of that there is no doubt.... this was already on show last season.. and now you can see more people looking to prioritise their money in regards season tickets. Why spend all that money on a season ticket when over half the games are dull, flat and almost meaningless? The growing trend will be go to watch the Wigan, Saints, Leeds, Widnes home games, a selection of away games, cup games and play off matches. I certainly wont be getting a season ticket, and i dont care if that doesn't make me a 'true fan' ... I will pick and choose my games accordingly.... I will watch some games on the TV in the pub with my mates, some at home infront of the TV with the mrs.... and i will probably still spend £100+ in the club shop on clothing.



Of course you shouldn't, it makes a mockery of the league.... Fans of other sports point at the 'champions' coming from 5th for 2 seasons running and laugh at our sport..... Having said that, its not Leeds fault and we should take nothing away from them for winning it. Leeds pay no attention to the league table whatsoever, they gear up to peak at the end of the season... In the ideal world you would have the top 4 go into the play offs... 1st plays 4th, 2nd plays 3rd...one week off for both sides and then have the final... i dont think there would be any complaints. But we have to realise that our sport is run by sky's money. They get what they want... and they want a prolonged play off series at the end of the season, and that's what they will get.

I'd disagreed with this.

Chelsea won the Champions League last season having finished 9 pts behind the domestic league winners Man Utd in 10-11 season (their qualification year) and 25 pts behind the domestic league winners Man City last season (their wiining year), yet are still refered to as "The Champions of Europe."

You can disagree with it, but it doesn't change the fact that its happening.
