| Quote: {Hogan} "Its a good deal all round, we need a creative centre, we have a winger in Roberts who has a great try scoring record. But as per we did to Calderwood we are ruining him with poor centre play.
He seems like he doesnt want to be a Wire player any more, so great for both clubs and maybe this is what he needs to spark him back into life.
And of course if rumours are correct, we get shut of penis hands mathers.'"
That's bizarre, calderwood was never a player who required on being fed by a centre to score trys, most of his coming from kick chases and tap re-starts.
i mean, he played outside chev walker FFS.

Unless like you say he goes for home grown talent and uses one of our existing players to fill his place, but even then there is not at centre at the club who is as good as Gleeson atm.'"
It will be difficult to get another centre now unless we are prepared to splash the cash. Everyone will be under contract.
I bet there is now some frantic ringing around players agents going on!

you'd like to think nrl, where they seem to be quite happy at releasing players early to pick up the $$$ over here. Can't think of many actual centres that i'd splash the cash on to get over here mid season other than the usual obvious targets.

| plenty of people keep saying (esp pie eaters) mathers is rubbish etc.
but to be fair, our onfield performance, for me, is still in a crisis, despite the last 2 superleague wins i don't think we are anywhere near good enough yet even if a big injection of confidence was put into the current team and so mathers may not take us to dizzy heights but i reckon he'll be a decent short term gain for us and if he does find some of his old form then even better we've got a top player

3 and 1/2 year contract at the age of 29 is a good deal for any player, especially as he'll be on top dollar for his last chance to 'earn big', so I'm sure he's happy despite the grimacing features.

| Quote: I am disappointed that it did not work out better for Richard at Wigan because he is an exceptional character with an extremely positive attitude. We wish him well at Warrington, joining up with his previous Coach, Tony Smith. "Wigan also confirm the release of Richard Mathers who has been signed by Warrington with immediate effect.
Ian Lenagan commented
wonder what mather's photo will look like.

| So he joins that select group of players to have played for Warrington, Wigan and Saints then.

32 when his contract finishes, sounds like a good deal for both parties.
PS
I really do Hope mathers gets a fair crack of the whip from you lot because he never got it at Wigan from most of the fans.
He wasn't particularly good but he wasn't THAT BAD either, some of the fans got their teeth into him early and wouldn't let go!
He was never going to turn that round with most of the Wigan Speccies so it's a good move for him as well !

| "It will be an honour to wear the famous cherry and white shirt. I decided some time ago that if I left the Wolves to play for any other Club in Super League then it would probably only be my hometown club. As this opportunity has now come up I’m delighted to take it. The Warriors have an exciting future and I’m really looking forward to being part of that."
Yeah right. After I had realised that I wasn't good enough for the NRL and nobody was interested anyway.
