| Quote: Philth "I thought that after the game. We put Wrench in against Shenton in the first game of the season where a win is desperately needed to build momentum and played Brand against Hurrell in his debut. I'm happy we blood youngsters, honestly, but surely there's a slightly better way of doing it, especially of you have Mamo as an alternative. The Brand move in particular was a very very questionable selection'"
Spot on. I’m all for giving youngsters a chance but there’s a time and a place. Throwing Brand in against arguably the biggest centre in the world was dumb.

I’m not convinced with Ratchford at fullback of late. He was caught out a few times positionally on Sunday. I think he’d give us better value at loose as a ball playing lock.

| I’ll reserve judgment on Josh until he plays outside Inglis. Which looks to be the way we’re going.
It looks to me that Charnley hasn’t had a settled 3/4 throughout preseason. I’m off his back until then.

Charnley had a bad game, it happens. The bounce did him twice and his steal was deemed illegal among a couple of other things.
His try scoring record for us is 1 in 2ish which isn't that bad, but he's a winger that used to score 1 in 1. He can't be having that much fun out there getting poor service or not being used as the threat he is.

100%. I know have good Charnley is. With the right centre, he is devastating. Everyone has a bad day, doesn’t make them poor.

Philbin to the bench
D Clarke in from the off
J Clark to 13 (a little relunctantly)
Ashton for Charnley
Philbin, Mulhearn, Butler/Robson, Walker to the bench'"
Agreed with this, although I would keep Charnley on the wing for now. If his form continues to nose dive then Ashton should get an opportunity to run some games on the wing.
Mulhern potentially could be the option at 13 at some point, I just feel like we get ‘more’ from Philbin when he comes off the bench 20/25 mins into games. Mamo needs to play centre, I was impressed with his form at the back end of last year.

| Hughes at 13 and someone with a passing game at and row for me.
Philbin and mulhern on the bench. Alternatively we could start cooper and mulhern and bring on hill and Philbin that is stronger for me.

| We need to be better at the play the ball, as we were too slow for Cas both with and without the ball, last week.

Dont hold your breath, anyone who thinks we are going to become a good team under Steve price is just plain deluded. This season is a write off until a new man is appointed and if that doesn't happen the whole season is a write off.

It shouldn't matter if you or I were the coach, that team isn't putting a shift in. That's not acceptable to me, regardless of what I think of SP (and I'm not defending him, for the removal of doubt).

I do agree but the job of the coach is to get the best from their playing squad and that isn't happening. Something is amiss in the camp, the players aren't responding to the coaching. I don't want this to get personal to price really as he does come across as a guy who shares our pain and I do think he is working hard. Unfortunately it's not working and hasn't been for a long time really.

Cannot disagree with anything you say, but not all the blame should be laid at Price's door.

No but the coach is usually the one who pays the price. It just hasn't worked out unfortunately.

Yeah i'd agree with that, i think Butler will make the bench this time.

| Good to see Butler on. Did OK and got some decent minutes.
Would prefer to see Joe P on the bench with JClark starting, but would honestly like to see a more ball handling 13 - Ratch can do it for a few games or some minutes in each game but its a tall order for him and isnt his best position. (Id like a Nikau without the penalties).
Surprised that Davis hasn't even made the squad. He may not be big but he's never let us down.
Mamo played well today albeit got pushed off on 1 occasion which led to a Leigh try. (Although this was the match I would have played Wrench in, rather than last week. And I'd play Wrench next week to build his confidence. Having said that given last weeks debacle it was imperative we got a good win today, and that meant choosing Mamo).
Because the opposition was of a lower standard today, it was difficult to judge whether starting with Walker would have been too bad, but like it or not Daz is sheer class and Walker is at a lower level (still not at the Dwyer level).
