| Happy with this signing, another big body much needed in the prop department. I’d expect him to be pushing for a bench spot in his first full season & when Cooper/Hill aren’t fit I’m sure he’ll get his opportunity.
If we do decide to unload Latu or Sita, we really should be looking at bringing in another prop, especially since L.Johnson is pretty much nailed on for HKR now. Patton, Livett, BBM going and Widdop going back to Aus... you’d hope we can learn from previous mistakes and make another shrewd signing or two. Time will tell...

| Another young lad who won’t be given a proper chance and will probably be at Hull KR or Widnes in a couple of seasons.

| Must confess I don't recall seeing a great deal of him at London but I've looked at the video highlights and he looks good ......... oh hang on.
Hopefully he's been scouted and signed by someone who has watched RL and knows what a prop has to do. And hopefully Price actually knows about the signing and won't think we've employed a new groundsman.

| Quote: Or thane "Very happy we've finally signed him just a shame we never have more than one good prop signing every 5 years or so.
Means we never have a full compliment of props to keeps us plowing forward and worrying opposition.
Yeah unless we could get Sezer which is a complete pipe dream, i think Playing Ratchford in the halves and Ashton at fullback is a very good option.
I think Ratchford is better at fullback but he doesn't let us down wherever he plays and if we could get another quality prop i think that would make all the difference.
With Luis Johnson being on the outer i hope that means we have plans for another prop.
There is no way Latu will be picked up by another team and Price really doesn't like him and apart from his first game he's not impressive at all. And Sita doesn't have the engine but i think is a good prop to have as back up.'"
I'm pretty sure if we offered sezer the salary we were paying widdop it wouldn't be so much of a pipe dream. Money talks as the saying goes.

| If Ratchford is moved to half back then Josh Thewlis should get first chance to claim the full back role IN MY OPINION from what I have witnessed over the past few years

I hope so mate, we'd finally have a quality controlling half and Austin to roam. I'd be buzzing if we could pull him out the bag but i can't see Huddersfield letting him go.

You'd skip ashton altogether?
Is thewlis a more rounded fb?

| I'm really happy with this signing. I do think we need another prop still or to get sita to really work on his fitness or energy management.
I don't want another half back personally, not unless we can get sezer, 'd rather we play ratchford there and have Riley Dean and josh thewlis closer to the first team.
Oh and a new coach, not sure if I've mentioned that previously but I think we should give a new coach a try.

Thewlis looked the perfect fullback from what I've seen, his positioning is fantastic for a lad so young. He's got a bright future IMO. He doesn't look as raw as Ashton, however he doesn't carry the attacking threat that Ashton does either, not many do. No point in playing Ashton at wide prop, he's more dangerous from fullback. Needs to work on his defence and confidence though.

| If Butler can bring the go forward, minutes and 100% commitment and effort that Eddie Battye gave to Wakefield during his recent loan spell then I'll be happy. At 22 he is young for a player but particularly Prop so bags of potential to grow into his role with us as Hill and Cooper enter their twilight years.
We all know we need reinforcements up front and I'm really hopeful that this turns into an inspired piece of business

| Seems like an encouraging signing, I'm looking forward to seeing how Rob Butler goes with us.

| I hope we do use the ‘Widdop’ money to spend in other areas, like another prop.... I’d happily see Ratchford at halfback alongside Austin. I felt at times during the season that pairing was a better half combo then Austin & Widdop.
Ashton, Thewlis, Inglis and Mamo to cover the 1 position.

| I have only seen Butler play once, I think. But there can not be many Championship players that get picked for the Knights, plus he looks big and up for the confrontation. As Rico says he looks a genuinely good prospect with age on his side.

I would say so. Ashton is raw and at time calamitous.
I’d look to use him on the wing and fb cover.
