| For me one of the biggest disappointments was Chris Rudd. A quite outstanding youth player, I saw him score a cracker against Australia in a youth international, just never quite got to where he should have. Far more so than Rhys Evans.

duckie you are older than me - what's your verdict on putting Steve Roach in ahead of Teitzel? Roach did have that big game in the semi final against Wigan but overall wasn't he a flop relative to his three-time Dally M prop of the year reputation?
Also how about Scott Wilson ahead of Kevin Walters?

Jon Roper too, but this sounds like another thread: young players that didn't live up to their potential rather than players who had a 'reputation' when signing which sounds more like players brought in from outside.

Steve Roach was what I'd hope Roberts would be.
A fat lazy git who was saving everything for a final visit.
Roach put in forward performances bigger than any prop I ever saw in a Wire shirt from the 80s+ the only thing was, I could count them on 2 fingers....still it was double what we got from Roberts.

| I know that you are trying to fill a team, but, like Russell, Rhys Evans is off piste IMO

No, absolutely no reason to put him in.

| I remember from the 1960's we signed Bob Fleet from Swinton. He was an ex Gt Britain centre, although past his best was deemed to be a good signing.
The biggest cheer I can remember at Wilderspool was when he actually caught a pass. Never seen so many knock ons from 1 player.
Makes Andy Currier seem like a Wilderspool legend

| I nominate the one and only David Kidwell.
After leaving Wire and returning to the NRL, he was a major success, but over here he couldn`t be ar$ed.

was reading this thread and he was my first thought, beat me too it.
Kevin Campion, I know he never played but had a big rep, only likes to play in warm weather! apparently

| I'd put Leroy Rivett on the wing instead of Matty Russell.
Unfortunately Leroy could never match up to his CC Final tryscoring record.
