| He'd be playing interchangeable 9 anyways. I would not have thought kk would have left Aus without a hb sorted....but I have a hunch the new coach wants a certain back and he's probably not available until 2019, plus it won't be the first time we've made a decision to do a deal that has us wait a season, or even two, for a player we want to become available.
Plus Pay would trust Gidley, Well that's how it looks to me.

| REALLY? What's the point of next year to be served up the same old dross as this season. Brown and Gidley will have fans stampeding to renew season tickets
No coach and a CEO with no experience whatsoever, and any clue what he's doing, claiming due diligence is happening over a coach. Will he be asking Smith to do another season because he can't attract any other coach.
If it's true Warrington and to some extent Super League is a joke, won't be long before this game is back as a part time sport
Quality going backwards week in week out.

| Blimey lads we are working ourselves into a frenzy over this one aren't we. Get a grip of yourselves. Followers leaving for Widnes, not buying a season ticket, jumping into the Mersey ... just cos one silly comes up with yet another rumour.

| Quote: Philth "If there's no one available we shouldn't just then pick up some aussie no mark just because he's Australian. Is Gidley better than Reynolds or Walsh though, knowing that one of them will likely come available by tea time Saturday?
The other worrying thing is that this search should've started many months ago, not now! Lovely parting present from Smith'"
It might well have done but maybe nobody we inquired about wanted to come?

| Better the devil you know. I've no issues with Gidley for another year. I mean he's not exactly rank is he? With Ratchford being an exception at fb, Gidley is/was our best back.
It's our forwards that are peas poor.

Despite what they try to convince us of otherwise, we still haven't moved from Draper's plan A of throwing as much mud at the wall and hoping it sticks. For mud see loads of money and the wall as "Australian players"

| Would it be that bad, especially if he was on the right deal? Can cover a few positions and do it well. Would be a good option as interchange hooker too.
I agree it is a bit bizarre and slightly worrying the way things are being handled but from a playing point of view I don’t think we’ve got much to lose. Who knows, the incoming coach might want someone he can trust with experience and might be instigating the process.
In saying that, it won’t happen. He seems very content with his decision and don’t think he’ll go back on it especially after his send off at the weekend.

| yes it would be bad, i didn't think we should have give him the extra year, he seemed well off it last season in parts.
He's got a lot of mileage on his clock

| If someone had told you this time last year we'd have Kevin Brown as a starting halfback you wouldn't have believed them.

Possibly our only half back as well.

Loved to have known who sanctioned this move. We're suppose to be after the best of the best, offering wages to make players stars and highest paid in the league. Yet we signed a journeyman at the end of this career from a rival on big money.

This is perhaps some of the problem.
If we have someone making the transfer deals, and perhaps deciding on Gidley's extension, who isn't the coach, then our troubles might not be over with the departure of Smith.

| Worried about our club. Makes me think did the powers that be actually watch us and take note this season if they think that this is a good idea?
We happily let the likes of talented players like Myler and O'Brien leave yet seemingly want a 35 year old Aussie who isn't good enough to stay.

at least he's got a clock... Kevin brown has one of those back to front clocks you used to see in "trendy" 1980's bars.
it might tell the time but its poop at it and everyone gets sick of it after a short while.....
I'm not devastated if we keep Gidley, he still shows glimpses of Class the remaining backs it this club have never got close to attaining.
I am afraid though, it fair and squarely puts snot on the Door knob of Tony Smiths office door.
Anyone that got teary eyed at Smiths departure has totally and completely misunderstood the amount of Poop he has left us in.
The Bloke simply cannot recruit no wonder he's talking about walking away from coaching.
It's a complete mess
