I'm not sure on mcguire. the way I look at it he won the NRL competition with a selection of the worst half backs in the league Adam Reynolds at 7 and swapping between Luke keary and the Good awful John Sutton at 6.
Was he just lucky that he had Sam Burgess on fire all year? surely no one is that lucky to win superleague with an ordinary squad and the NRL with crap halfbacks....
i always remember when Wayne Bennet went to st george he said essentially they were a good team but had a soft underbelly... I think that sums us up. I'm inclined to think we need a Mcguire to give us a bit of steel.
I mean look at this dreadful Wigan side that finished 1point above us at the split....they have a determination instilled in them from Mcguires days......granted they are the worst team ever to wear the Cherry and White but I fancy they'll be in the grand final again......!!
we dont have the cabinet full of league titles to be in a position to turn our noses up at that kind of rugby

When you say "ruin" do you mean they won the NRL premiership for the first time in 43 years?

| i would advise keeping one eye over at bradford, i'm not saying i'd like that, just in terms of who's available, and who's not and who we can make available easier than others.

| And what has he done since? Yes he won the NRL but he had the likes of Inglis, Burgess, Tuqiri, Ben Te'o, Alex Johnston, and Dylan Walker. They had a very good team. Since then they have finished 7th, 12th and 12th. Hardly inspiring. Souths have gone backwards.

Who do you suggest we go for if not Maguire then?

Erm for me he just seemed one of the lads his analysis was all over the place.. no master class from him at all he just probably bores the players as he did me. He does seem a nice enough bloke though... i was more interested in other comments about Mr Moran wanting to spend the full cap and make a Marque signing the highest paid in Super league.
Marketing seems to be going in the right direction if you don't listen to the people in the room who would say night is day and just moaned a lot about membership

| As I said before, I don't get the obsession of some people with Maguire, and especially not with Monaghan as his assistant......hopefully that "dream team" is already over before it's begun if he's staying in Oz. Anyway, rather have Guisset as assistant to be honest.
How much do you think Wayne Bennett would want?

| Nobody seems to have told the Sydney Morning Herald that Maguire has turned down the job. This from this morning's (Tuesday's) paper
"Maguire tipped for top job at Wolves
12/09/2017
Speculation Michael Maguire could take over as coach of Super League side Warrington is growing after it was announced Tony Smith will leave the club at the end of the season. Maguire was sacked by South Sydney last week just three years after leading the Rabbitohs to the NRL premiership. He was immediately linked with the Warrington job. Warrington are bankrolled by millionaire music impresario Simon Moran and have the funds to tempt Maguire back to the north west of England."

| Monas missus is from the Wire/wigan area I think. That would argue a case in favour of a move back home.

Without wishing to sound rude, "so what?" Does his spouse being from this area mean he should be offered the job? No it doesn't - the job needs to be given to the best qualified and most hungry candidate, not to someone who can easily visit his in laws at the weekend.......sentiment should not come into it, that's what (partly) got us into this mess!

| If you get Maguire you'll win things and he will change your club from the first team through to the u15's. It may not be pretty but it'll be effective and like he's done with us, he'll set the club up to keep achieving success for years to come.
People can question the style of play but ultimately I've been entertained with trophies! The rugby under Maguire was actually very good tbh. The amount of movement we had off the ball was a joy to watch with the ball players having all sorts of running options making themselves available.
As a Wigan fan I hope you don't get him because of you do you'll be successful without any shadow of a doubt.
