| Quote: Wires71 "I think it is Hill who could complain about back up. Sims was completely ineffectual going forward in the GF. Neither quick play the ball or gains.'"
When Hill and Sims are off the field our go forward in non existent. Not one can run onto a ball and make an impart. Sims wins the collision, finds his front and plays the ball quick every time. This allows hill to make more meters because the opposition line isn't set and cant move forward. the both of them compliment each others game brilliantly. George King spends most of his time looking like he's lost his mum in the supermarket. Regarding the GF what Sims lacked in making meters or quick PTB he made up for in attracting 3-4 defenders near enough every time he had the ball. someone on a short ball would have opened Wigan up.
starting pack next year will be Hill, Clark, Sims, Hughes, Savelio, Westerman. Crosby coming on for Sims and Coops on for Hill and another forward on the bench for anything in between

| With these new additions we may well see a different Sims as he could have the licence to run the edges rather than be a battering ram every game.

There isn't a centre or back row in Super League who wouldn't want Sims out on the fringes instead of in the middle.
Nowhere near enough pace or mobility to play out there.
He's doing a fine job at prop anyway.
In recent years Warrington fans have seen how important the collective four-pack of props can be and I expect both Hill and Sims to be even more effective in 2017.

| Quote: Ganson's Optician "Welcome to RLFANS, Mrs Sevelio.'"
Yes, that's what went through my mind as well. But Savelio seems well past that period when he could do no wrong. He had a storming first season with Saints, won the young player of the year award, said he wanted to play in the NRL, and somebody (Mrs S ?) used Wire as a bargaining chip to get a much better contract (from Saints gossip). So does the 1 year contract mean he is getting a second chance after being discarded by Saints, or is his hand strong enough that he only want's one year because he intends to go to Oz in 2018 ? Reading through the player comments and ignoring the " I have always wanted to play for Ruislip Raiders ever since I was a kid" stuff that they all write, Savelio does say " I know I’m going to have to work extremely hard to get in the 17.” That sounds as though he is getting the opportunity to show he can produce the goods (at this level). If so that could work out well for us as he want's to play BR not prop, and realises he has both an opportunity as well as something to prove.

He apparently had NRL offers this year, but with the Savelio media machine its hard to tell whats what. As a Saints fan, I am frustrated the club couldn't get a player to reach any where near his potential, but I certainly won't miss the yearly circus of rumours. (An example of this years below). I suspect the 1 year deal was mutually demanded, Savelio thinking of the NRL in 2018, and Warrington with the risk of potential being squandered.

Ahhh. I was wondering how long it would take before we saw a 'not good enough/reject' type post.

Well it's a strange one. Clearly if an NRL club had wanted him, he would have been off - doesn't he have relations down there ? But there again, if Wire had a strong hand surely they would have added a ' 1 year club extension' on the end of the contract ? If he was a direct replacement for Currie then perhaps there is some logic in only wanting him for a year, but he is a quite different BR option.

He has quite a lot of family in NZ iirc, which is why I find the whole scenario a little odd. If Warrington are planning to use him to cover Currie then the 1 year makes sense, but seems a bit of an odd way of doing it.
And to RD's point, I never said he wasn't good enough, I said he hadn't fulfilled his potential - they are 2 very different things. I'd of been happy enough to see him stay at Saints and have a full time backrow role next year (even with the inevitable rumours that would follow).
