| Until we develop the belief, grit, determination and win at all costs attitude that prevails at clubs like Wigan, Saints and Leeds we will always have results like that. I see on social media that a chap vented his spleen and was told he was not a proper fan and that all was peachy. "We don't need fans like you". It's this attitude that persists. A classic example was the proposed home coming for the beaten Wembley finalists. Finally I don't like to see coaches and players grinning after a loss. I can't believe that Wane would do that, he would have torn them a new whatsit after the game.

| Quote: lefty goldblatt "Yes folks, it really did happen. Here was me thinking that it'd all be like that scene in Dalllas, where Bobby Ewing emerges from the shower, and all the previous bad stuff had been a bad dream. No. We really did blow a 14 point lead against 12 men, with only a quarter of the game to go. Mind you. We do have recent history, to back this trend. Twice this season, we've blown 10 point leads against Hull, similar v Stains, 12 man HKR (yes, HKR), and the less said about Cas in Newcastle, the better.
When we went on a 7 match winning run at the start of the season, many on here put it down to fitness. I disagreed then, and still do now. We were mentally tough, and we dig ourselves out of holes (Salford, and a poor start v Widnes). We've become blasé, and, to use a Stephensonism, put the cue back on the rack, when we were cruising.
To use a sporting analogy, we're becoming the Greg Norman of RL in games. Looking good for the first 3 days, but when he gets to the back 9 holes on a Sunday afternoon, he blows it.
Hemmings was right in his pre match ramblings. We have a history of choking on the big occasion, since Wembley 2012. Wigan, Leeds and Saints are battle hardened in the situations. We're like rabbits caught in the headlights.
Smith needs to start earning his pay, and growing himself a pair, and instilling the same altitude to his players. One thing he could do with, is losing that chancer Stuart Pearce's phone number. I see he was there giving out Wembley shirts the other week (seriously, wtf is that contrived load of b0110cks about). There's a bit more to sport than gunning your face, and screaming COME ON. Wane gets his players to dig deep, and get themselves out of situations, and go on and win when it matters. Likewise with Mcdermott at Leeds(this season apart). As I said....battle hardened.
I'm starting to believe the tag we had a few years back....flat track bullies. To paraphrase Billy Ocean, When the going gets tough, Wire pooh their pants
Come on Smith and squad. PROVE ME WRONG.
P.S. Please play players in the correct positions. I.e. wingers on the wing. I think you know what I mean'" Great post.I wonder what a certain Mr Murphy would have said after that defeat.Think there would have been bigger objects thrown than hair dryers. That to me was as bad as Wembley if not worse + I'm afraid to say it we are chokers when it comes to the big stage.Maybe the name the Warrington Chokers has a certain ring to it + while I'm having a rant has Mr Sims ever broken a tackle as I can't seem to remember even though I don't go to every game + Chris Hill is our Bob Jackson but where is our Les Boyd + Kevin Tamati?Cheque book time me thinks for next season or same old.

| thaler did a lot of damage in last nights game..everyone watching the game on the telly could see tierneys hand was on the touchline before he put the ball down..but thaler (who should be dropped from reffing for good) saw otherwise..this video ref systenm most of the time is a joke..that changed the game completley and the fans were stunned by that diabolical decision..when a player does anything wrong they go up before the panel ..thaler should be demoted to hot dog seller..and thats from a saints fan!

| Quote: DAG "I'm not disagreeing with any of that. Let's face it, last nights game should've been irrelevant as top spot should've been secured long ago. Last night summed us up and typifies why, for me, we won't win, or even get to the Grand Final this year. We play how Smith looks, blasé and laid back, but I don't think for one minute that he is acceptant of mediocrity, or that we have been mediocre this year - we've improved massively on the last two years and anyone that doesn't see that needs to get some perspective.'"
Hull should have had top spot secured long ago. 2 losses against leeds, a defeat by huddersfield and 3 losses so far in the super 8's. Against the top 5 our record has been exceptional this year and we've been far and away the best team. Someone posted on our board that prior to the super 8's we'd won 14 of 15 games against the other top 5 teams, with the one defeat being to a late drop goal against wigan

| The other concerning thing is that we've probably spent more than any other side each season over the past 10 years. A few posters have mentioned putting the cue on the rack and I agree. We seem to find an excuse to let sides back in the game and Ben Currie's injury last night seem to trigger a lack of focus when really we should be closing the game out. Up until this point we looked the better side and I felt confident (bar doing a 'Warrington) that we'd win.

| Gidley should have managed the last 20 with boring rugby league. 5 tackles kick to touch instead of manic we need another try mentality.

| If you had just played basic rugby when 14 points and a man up, e.g. a field position orientated game kicking to touch and slowing the game down, the game would have petered out and you would have won comfortably. That's it, that's all you had to do. Same in the CC final. You do the hard part, playing the fancy stuff getting into a winning position but then can't do the basic part.
If you knew how to play basic rugby you'd be on the verge of a treble, but instead you'll probably be runners up in all 3 competitions.

| Flex is correct. This is where gidley should be stamping his authority but he isn't doing it. Sandow is better at game management when he plays. He'd have drilled a few boring kicks to touch to ensure victory.

| As I said when you signed him, Gidley is best at hooker, followed by fullback. Considering this, is it really that surprising he doesn't have the game management of a true halfback?
