I think people think that punching is "honest" whilst spitting is somehow "underhand" and beyond the pale.

Did he actually do it? I have a hard time believing people who potentially sitting 60 metres away... where did it take place on the pitch?

I wouldn't expect this of him, he's always been quite placid to me, head down and get on with the game. Must have been very tense and angsty out there.

Having had a young relative die from Meningitis after being spat at in school, I would say I would rather be punched than spat at.

I don't think Eorl Crabtree has ever punched anybody. If he did it must have taken something bad for him to react in such a way! Let's be honest Chris Bridge isn't shy when it comes to the biff.

With regards to England he has let himself down big style. Spitting is the lowest of the low. With him being a prop and doing it to a HB makes it even more embarrassing. Dirty get deserves the full 8!

Disagree with this, I'm a fan but I always get the feeling he could overstep the mark at any minute. I would've hoped spitting was above him (and in fact all of our players) though. Getting rid over this is perhaps a bit harsh, we all make mistakes. I'm sure if he ends up sitting on the sidelines for eight games because of this he will get a fitting punishment (fine or whatever) from whoever it is in charge of the team at the moment.

I too can`t believe that many other players from BOTH teams were not cited after watching yesterday`s game.

Crabtree & Bridge were trading punches in an all-out bar room brawl. Other Huddersfield players then joined in on Crabtree`s behalf, meaning that Bridge was taking on 3 or 4 Huddersfield players at the same time with some major blows dished-out & received.

How Bentham then only sin-binned England & Brough defies any logic.

Bridge, Crabtree & the other Huddersfield players in the initial boxing bout should have all been Red Carded.

As long as it doesn't bring any negative publicity on the game like the Ben Flower incident and it is dealt with by the rfl and the club. In the proper manner like it should be weather it's a 4 game ban or an 8 game ban. Then it will be yesterday's news before no time.

Bentham -like much of the stadium- was watching the try being scored, not bridge spitting his dummy- so probably wasn't in a position to know what started it to be able to send anyone off. Given the number of players involved the disciplinary could well have banned most of both teams if looked at retrospectively. I can honestly say I've watched Eorl play since he was a junior- there aren't many games he's played in I've missed- and I don't ever recall him throwing a punch in a game.
The most I've seen is him square up to Bailey and laugh in his face about 4 years ago. Whatever bridge did he must have seriously deserved it to rile Eorl.

First of all, innocent until proven guilty. Video evidence is VITAL in this instance, or we could be potentially opening a huge can of worms. Trial by moral outrage is already onto it's third page of the thread, only a few hours after the charge was raised, and fans from clubs not involved in yesterday's game have come bowling on here, baying for blood, when players in their own team haven't exactly been paragons of virtue in the last couple of years. I think we all know a couple of names who'd fit the bill.

IF he is guilty, ban him for the full tariff. He wont be doing it again, and staying on at the club.

Yes, spitting is a pretty loathsome thing to do (if he has done it). I'm sure he'll be reminded of it at every away ground he visits in the future.

Is this the same England who was at Cas as a youth. If so saw him against the London kids a few years ago down at Aldershot and he went berserk, really berserk. Got a red I think and the coaching staff had to drag him to the bench and just as he got there he broke free and charged back throwing some more before being dragged of by the staff again. Seemed to have a short fuse!

In over 10 years of having played against the toughest players in the sport some from the other side side of the world he's never punched another player. All I'm saying is he's not quick to anger.
