You are a rum cove, you put the Maine Road semi down as a 'best ever' away game on the other thread

| Too many to mention.
80-0 was absolutely awful. 320 mile round trip to see us get stuffed from the 1st minute. And the knock on to the subsequent games where losing 44-16 seemed half decent.
Semi final of the Premiership in 87 (?) with THAT Joe Lydon drop goal.
Losing away to Hunslet at the Leeds United ground when Boyd was playing for us and he was just not interested - standing 3 yards behind the line.
8-6 loss to Wigan where we effectively lost the Championship. (The Cullen 'knees' incident, when we really played well for the rest of the match)
The numerous last minute losses to Saints.
That's more than 4 for going on with.

Got to disagree there, the atmosphere in our end was fantastic and the performance was fairly good, no disgrace. Some painful defeats have been remedied by our own fans on occasion for me.

Probably this. Wasn't there a floodlight failure, too.
Add to this, my first ever away game, Leigh, Easter Monday 84
I'd pestered my dad for hours for him to take me, (his Wire watching career ended 20 years before this day). We fielded a real Dad's Army team for this one (I think Derek Finnigan played, but none of the Leigh players would tackle him, as he was 72 at the time, and stunk of wee and Werther's Originals). A certain winger played for Leigh that day, and I can honestly say, I've never heard a few thousand people make so much noise, whenever he touched the ball. DEAFENING.
Also, I've never seen us win @ Wakefield.
The 80 niller, obviously
'89 CCSF
87 Prem Final (scandalous reffing)
and a wet midweek match v Leeds in 89. The only time I've left early. My mates had had enough, and one of them was driving so I had no choice.

| That away match at Widnes, 89 I think, when Offiah scored 5. Horrible experience.

Pedantic hat on, you can't put the 8-6 loss to wigan(you are still not forgiven Russell smith!) on this thread as it was at wilderspool.

| The 80-0 debacle remains uppermost in my mind, despite years of therapy, industrial strength drugs and Newcastle Brown abuse in an attempt to wipe it out. I stayed to the end, but only because my eyes had involuntrarily slammed shut with shock.
As for the others? Goodness, too many wasted Sunday afternoons to recall without descending into pits of despair wondering what I could have been doing instead, and with whom.
I remember us losing at Barrow in the late 80s - spending a Sunday in Barrow is a waste of an afternoon even to watch a great team performance but we were the antidote to greatness that day. Hunslet away also in the late 80's I think 11-10. Pick any god awful yorkshire town (Hello Featherstone) and I've probably witnessed Wire-related events that would triple the NHS valium bill.
Not strictly an away game but the one that still wakes me at 3AM in a cold sweat was the JP Final 87 @ Burnden Park v Wigan. Having demolished Widnes in the semi I fully expected us to do Wigan, and we failed miserably. Bish was suspended and Steve Peters & Ken Kelly just couldn't provide the spark. Also, it was a day so cold it would have sent an Eskimo sprinting to the nearest double-glazing showroom. In fact, it was so cold at half-time I urinated on my hands to try and warm them up. Not only did this fail to do the trick, and resulted in severe chaffing, but also meant I had to douse myself in deodrant before being allowed back in the car with my mates for the (long) journey home.

| I was in that car too and you never owned up at the time You never learnt your lesson though, I remember you pouring red hot tea on yourself a half time at Odsal once to try and keep warm............I wouldn't have minded but it meant I only got half a cup of tea instead of a full one, and that was when a cup of tea was the most enjoyable thing about visiting Odsal.

| For an intelligent fellow morrisey your attempts to reintroduce circulation to your hands are very frank Spenceresque. 80-0 was rather amusing by the end...any mid winter trip to thrum hall/post office road etc. Can't remember the score but remember john Bentley getting three or four tries for fax in an absolute mullering.

| Halifax away 2002, 5 Briers drop - goals, and Daryl Cardiss winning it for them in the last minute... I think it was only half way through the season but that convinced me we were doomed to go down. Thankfully I was wrong. Huddersfield away in 2001, I think they scored 50 for the first time in Super League that day, we were abysmal, absolutely abysmal.

| We played Halifax three times that season and Briers scored 30 points in total, 6 of which were from drop goals.
