| Seems to be a good appointment. Roger Draper has worked for some big organisations who, as previous people have stated, he has left in better shape than they were when he joined.
He's a Rugby League man and that is a big catch in itself. I'm sure the club will continue to improve on and off the pitch under his wing.
Getting the attendances back up following on from last year has to be a start. Saturday was good crowd but it was opening day. We need to get back to two/three years ago when every home league game was 10,000+.
The club has made so much progress since we moved to HJ so it will no doubt keep going.

| Very true Nico.
I'd say the aim is to at least get the average attendance over 10k.

| You don't need a £100,000+ chief executive
to work that problem out.
There's an easy formula for that...
winning well + consistently = more fans.

Is it that he has had high profile jobs or is he a proven winner, that wherever he goes he leaves a lasting legacy of achievement and success?'"
I'm not a big fan of Sally's posts, but they may well have a point on this occasion.
The appointment is undoubtedly high-profile.
But even a cursory sift through Google News can be eye-opening.

| He seems to be of a good pedigree but I will reserve judgement for what he does for the wire.

What concerns me is this apparent inferiority complex amongst RL fans that if someone has had high profile appointments in another sport, especially a sport associated with the middle classes, getting him in is a big coup.
It's also baffling that "delivering the first Wimbledon champion for X years" is being listed as one of his achievements: what part in Andy Murray's development did he play?
Maybe my cynicism here comes from working in government. You will hear somebody has been appointed as a new Director General, on £150k a year, and an email goes round with their outstanding CV.....it will usually list a series of previous jobs in high-profile areas of government which when you dig through, were actually policy catastrophes and the person was moved on because they botched up, but they have turned up in another part of government to botch up again. Everybody's heart sinks. I get that feeling a bit here.
Some people are good at getting jobs, some people are good at delivering.
One thing I liked about Andy Gatcliffe was he was never really high-profile, but during his time in charge the club achieved an incredible amount on and off the field. If someone asks him in an interview to describe how he achieved "transformational change" to an organisation he can describe what he did at Warrington.
I am going to wait to judge the new Chief Exec on his performance with us but I have to say I am concerned that we have got a replacement for Andy Gatcliffe that is not going to be of his calibre.

I agree with most of this, the guy has a good CV but I know nothing about him but I do think Moran would have done his homework and we won't be let down by this appointment.

| Will he be being paid what he was on at the LTA? £640K a year!!!!
Has he had a job since he resigned from the LTA in September 2013?

| Might have been a good idea to splash out on a top of the range cap busting Aussie & call him the CEO then he could volunteer to turn out on matchdays "because he loves his rugby".

| Will be on about £100k and he increased profits and left the businesses in a better position than when he joined, regardless of where the other jobs were, he's a decent appointment. I trust Moran to pick someone good anyway.

| In terms of high profile appointments his CV is impressive. He can hardly be described as an unqualified success in those posts though.
However CEO at The Wire is not the same poison chalice as the LTA. Moran is no mug and I would have confidence in his judgement.

Interesting that you are reserving judgement on this appointment, despite the same people appointing Gatcliffe.

The same people that appointed Jimmy Lowes appointed Tony Smith.
