| Quote: morrisseyisawire "Brian Johnson in the 1986 Premiership final. Halifax took a drop-out from under their sticks, and put it a fair old distance, Johno took it from full-back, set off from a standing start and proceeded to waltz through most of the Halfax team without a finger being laid on him.'"
Superb try. Two sidesteps at full speed beat the whole Halifax team. Unfortunately the 'try of the season' award had already been decided.
Brian Bevan used to score tries like that almost routinely. Unfortunately I doubt we will ever see his like again. A complete, amazing one off

I am sure it was Widnes away the season we relegated them and scored around 60+ points in that game.

| I thought the one I was thinking of was v Widnes. But the brain plays tricks.

| The night the lights went out in 1993. on an October Monday (yes, Monday) night.
Step forward Johnny D, with one of THE best individual tries, ever.
Just go onto a certain video sharing website, and look for our tries for the 93-94 season (part 1), and it's about 3 mins in.
Rugby League pornography.
p.s. Phil Blake scored one similar, in the dying minutes of a Lancs Cup semi in 1985. Just a pre-curser of what he was able to do.

| Darren Burns kicking the ball dead and shouting 'have it' when winning the game that effectively kept us in Super League.
Pivotal.

| 1.
Allan Langer taking the ball effortlessly from Tommy Martin Jr's hands while stood behind the try line and placing down in front off him.
And Tommy Martin appealing to the referee about it!
2.
The SL hub cap going "back in the box, it's going back in the box!"

| 2007 at home to Salford I think, Faafili makes a break , turns & looks to pass to Penny but instead without looking passes to Clarke on his inside who runs in to score - Quality!

If that pass had been made by a 'fans favourite' rather than Faafili, it would have been lauded as world class. Still one of the best 'no look ' passes I've ever seen.

| How about Solomona's pass behind his back ? I can not remember which match it was. I don't suppose it will be on many peoples list, but it was just so unexpected, totally outrageous, and seems to me to highlight something that we have lost in the ever increasing move towards a structured game. Solo may not have had a big impact on the Wire results, but he was a huge crowd pleaser.

| Possibly the semi v Catalan?
Anyway, you reminded me of the Solomona try at Leeds in 2011. Mickey Monas taking on the line and then flicking one out the back door for Sol. Magic.

| IIRC we won a scrum against the head and then scored from the resulting play, against Wakefield, on the opening game at the Halliwell Jones.

I've just watched this again on YT. How good were we that season of 2011.

| As did I. For me that was one of our best displays in the Super League era. Monaghan was unplayable that day. Briers at his best as well.

| Carvell's interception try against saints, out-running James Graham from 50 metres out, that was pretty epic haha.
Nat Wood making Radlinski look like a fool with a dummy before scoring under the sticks and running off down the tunnel, round and out through another, Benny had thought about chasing him to congratulate him but thinks 'sod it' when he see's him disappear, haha. He had an absolute stormer that match, hat-trick, jabbed Faz in the face, set up a couple try's too that night.
Briers being caught on one of the referee's mics saying (about the ball) "I can't kick this, it's flat as !"

We were awesome that season. Certainly our best under Smith and must be one of the best Warrington sides of all time.
