| A fit Lee Mossop is a valuable asset, I fear his shoulders are shot though.

Well he was a direct replacement for waterhouse.

| Quote: Paul Youane "Not sure why so much hate for Mossop as he was a very good prospect as a young prop unfortunately he was one of Wigan's robots and played far too much Super League rugby for a front rower of his age. When he arrived at Parramatta they sent him straight for an operation on his shoulders that they reckoned he should of had 12 months previously.
Wigan just replaced him with another robot prop from their academy that will no doubt joined the list of Mossopp, Prescott, Tuson and others whose careers are pretty much done and dusted by their mid-twenties when as props they should be coming into their prime.
Clubs should have a duty of care to their players with consideration to longevity of career, I feel Mossop was let down in this area.'"
This is an instance of someone having an irrational theory and then casting around for evidence to support it.
Mossop didn't have the op so that he could play in the world cup, nothing to do with Wigan. Chris Tuson never played prop. Paul Prescot would fit the theory as he was 26 when he finished - Who are the mysterious others?

Irrational theory or not this would certainly support my assertion about Mossop being let down by his club in respect to duty of care for longevity of his career. For a club and its medical staff to allow a player to play on for a season needing an operation in the hope he would be anything more than a bit part player in a world cup because he wants to is without a doubt an abandonment of their duty of care.
As for other players I see that Greg Burke has gone out on loan, there's another one who has suffered from injuries since playing 20+ games as a prop in a season at a very early stage of development. Eamon O'Carroll is another.
Now you tell me which of Wigan's academy produced props have matured into their careers rather than peaking early and fading away generally under an injury cloud?

Burke has never started as a prop for Wigans first team and whenever he has played from the bench it's been as cover for the back row as Wigan have had two other props on there along with him in all but a couple of appearances.

And as for Mossop he was 22 years of age before he became a starting prop.

You might want to take this up with the Wigan club as well as they list Burke as a prop in his player profile.
Anyway call them props or utility forwards the Wigan robots like Burke and Tuson just do the same job with the same effect on their bodies.

| Makes me wonder what Leeds are doing getting rid of two very experienced forwards. I was expecting Mossop to sign for them.

Tuson wasn't overplayed as a youngster either.

| If Wigan had no regard for player welfare McIlorum would have played in the GF.as he wanted to. Shaun Wane must have been tempted but was advised by the medics not to play him
If Wigan are so reckless with players health surely such a pivotal player would have been picked.

Your right.
Shaun Wane must have the welfare of influential players at mind. Especially the ones that don't play for Wigan!
