I didn't hear anything about a further extended deal for Hill but it's fantastic news.

I don't think any of us did, a real bolt out of the blue. But like everyone else I'm chuffed that Chris is with us until his 32nd birthday.

Recent NRL interest, now I'm not naive to think he wouldn't, but I didn't hear or see anything of late?

I wonder who wa sniffing around?

Wasn't Wayne Bennett active in recruitment of props. He made well publicised approaches in the NRL.

I am made up with this contract extension, he has been phenomenal this season. He is the best prop in the league and a player we can build a pack around for the next 5 seasons. Nobody better.

This is a big shot in the arm for superleague too and for my money he should be man of steel on form so far this season.

Just thinking about it and this is the best possible signing we could make, what a player Hill is and this is also great for Super League!

Wonderful news, a litle unexpected as I thought he'd chance his arm in the NRL at some point, but from a selfish point of view it's Christmas come early.

Future Wires & England captain in my book, hopefully with a big cupboard at home to keep all his medals in.

Congrats to Chris on the new deal. He was immense for Leigh but has taken it up to another level at Wire. A truly world class player at the moment and my favourite SL player by a distance. Top bloke too, keep it up Hilly!

It's not often a player will receive a very long term contract, it does put off other clubs from circling, however it also shows the confidence the club has in Hilly, and the confidence he has in the club. Absolutely delighted we can keep players of his quality now.

Hilly has worked so hard to keep improving at this level, and done so much more than expected.

He's our top tackler (and only missed 10 tackles, 1.95%), top carrier, and top metre maker. Many fans favourite player, including me.

Interesting to note the description of this contract, it's a long term pay rise, Not a contract where he can change his mind and opt out for a move in a couple of years.

Which club allows that then

A club that's negotiating with a player that has his eyes elsewhere and so the club is forced to accept that clause when they don't really want it.

The Chris Hill deal is huge for us. I'd feared earlier in the season when we were struggling that the signs were we were a club on the way down and guys like Hill and Grix would privately be thinking its time to look elsewhere.

Recent developments have been very positive: the team has started winning and playing like it did in the past few seasons, TS has committed to us, we've signed Ashton Sims and now Hill has committed the majority of the rest of his career to us.

For a player like Hill who would no doubt have other options to make such a long commitment is a massive signal. He would have taken his time over this and wanted to see firm evidence that Warrington could match his ambitions and give him the chance to win more major trophies. Obviously he has seen that.

I feel much more positive about Wire and the future than I did at the start of the year.
