Monitoring outside for the people inside: |
|
| Blimey, Manchester a small city, has it got a duck pond in Albert Square? Liverpool and Leeds, very small? Are you not getting confused with St Asaph and St Davids in wales?

Have to agree, those figure appear to be low. I heard that the largest town was Reading with a population of circa 245,000. I think the last general election the electoral role for Warrington was 165,000 and you have got all the non eligible voter on top of that.
Anyway back to the topic. Todd Carney has gone from one scandal to the next throughout his career. He just doesn't seem to learn.I don't think he can change regardless of where you putt him. There are plenty of places for him to get in trouble in the North West.
Leave well alone.

| Quote: Wire Yed "Leeds is bigger than Manchester, in fact it's only behind London and Birmingham in size.
#justsaying'"
City boundaries and the population within them aren't the only measure of 'size'. Manchester's city boundaries are notoriously small, but, that's because it is at the centre of a large conurbation of some 2.8 million souls, effectively hemmed in by the 9 other authorities that make up Greater Manchester.
The counter balance is that many of its neighbours, such as the City of Salford, itself not insignificant in terms of metropolitan area and population doesn't have a fully developed city centre, meaning that Manchester's economic power and influence can't be assessed by a simple league table based on who lives one side or the other of the Rivers Irwell, Medlock, Mersey, Aire, etc. as these physical boundaries are surely outdated?
The old adage that what Manchester does today London does tomorrow might not be as true as when it was first suggested, but, as a city Manchester remains way in front of Leeds and Birmingham...don't believe everything that Tevez came out with as he engineered a move out, there's certainly enough going on to entertain the likes of Todd Carney.

| Why on earth would we want to even think of signing a load of trouble when we've already got four quality halfbacks?

| It must be an Aussie thing. HKR have sacked 22 year old Wayne Ulugia 2 months into an 18 month contract for repeated breaches of club discipline.
The moral of the tale is develop British youngsters & leave the Aussies where they are.

| A certain Wire half back who had a pub in Newton le Willows was rather partial to a pint or three without apparent harm and became of the of the games all time greats.

| Kiwi, Kelly Shelford had to be knocked up every Sunday otherwise he would sleep through and miss a game. More than that, the club had a key to go in and drag him up.
One Sunday it was said he was so hung over drunk that he was knocked up brought to the game sleeping in the car stinking of alcohol still drunk. Had no warm up went on to the pitch, was awarded the mom, went back into the changing rooms after the game, fell back asleep and when he woke up an hour later, didn't even know he played!

| Smith got rid of one heap of trouble when he first arrived at the Club. Why spend good money on another one?

Kelly Shelford was a player from a different era.
I was a huge fan of his but it was noticeable that when Super League and full-time professionalism came in, he fell way off the pace and I remember he got a lot of stick from our fans in his final season which was a shame.
A few years later Widnes signed Owen Craigie who was generally ridiculed in the league but Craigie was out of the same mould as Kelly Shelford, the game now is too fast and relentless over 80 minutes for that type of player to make the impact they used to.
Lee Briers might not have been a robotic manufactured limited-ability-but-an-athlete halfback like so many, but he was able to thrive in the modern game because he kept himself fit enough to survive.

Owen Craigie was too fat to fit in even Kelly Shelford's mould.
