Yes I recall that. I also recall getting beat away by Barrow (11-10 I think) with the likes of Les Boyd in our ranks. Even now I can see the look of abject joy on the faces of the Barrow fans as they literally danced with delight at the final whistle. I went home and wept because God had cursed me with this horrible affliction as opposed to something less socially embarassing and painful. Gonorrhoea, for example.

To be fare to Barrow, they did win the Lancashire Cup after beating us.
The last 2nd div team to win it I think.

Alfred North Whitehead
"Order amid change" as opposed to "change without order" which appears to have been our management approach of the last two years. Yeah I know, I'm a stuck record, Briers retiring out of the blue blah blah f***ing blah

We had Langer in our ranks too at that time.... And I think Sheffield did at least win the Challenge Cup that year. We couldn't buy a win, then we allowed Langer to go over to Aus and help out Queensland to win the State of Origin and against all odds, we actually won! Against a good Halifax side I think??

I think Sheffield winning the Challenge Cup was 1998 and this was a few years after (2000 or 2001 I think). This was after Sheffield and Huddersfield were in dire straits, then they had somewhat of a merger and became Huddersfield/Sheffield and were still in dire straits. We threw them a bone, even though we needed more bones ourselves. That was nice of us.
Morrisey: I'm afraid the days of Les Boyd were before my time; I was only 14 or 15 at the above mentioned game.

| I can't believe we didn't win today. Our forwards and backs were winning the collision hands down and making easy yards up the field. Interception try for Bradford kept them in the game when it looked like we were going to score and stretch our lead. Two disallowed tries and bombed several chances in the second half.
I saw Tony Smith going over to congratulate their dugout at the final whistle with a rueful smile on his face. I thought he looked pleased for them. Classy in defeat.

Well getting plenty of practice in this season. Getting fed up of hearing the same thing after every shocking defeat.
We look leaderless on and off the pitch. Has smith lost the players? They certainly don't appear to be playing for him or even have a clue of a game plan.
Does anyone still trust smith to rebuild this time for next year as this season is a no hoperr? Based on recent recruitment, I dont.

Plenty of sides have strolled to victory against Bradford without a world class HB this year. Realistically, where are we going to get one from? They don't roll off the Qantas conveyer belt at Heathrow like they used to any more.
