| Best team won on the day, no arguments from me. We were woeful and Cas took full advantage of that as they are clearly a really good team this year. The only players to come out of our games who can hold their heads high for me are Hill, Higham and Waterhouse.

| Kev Penny did nothing wrong to be fair, returned the ball well but should've strolled in for the opening try when Tansey flattened him.
Can't put my finger on what you guys did wrong today, just way off the pace all over the field which was really surprising from a side coached by TS.
Waterhouse threatened and Hill ran well - Asotasi carrying a bit IMO
The right-side defence of Evans(?) and Monaghan was dreadful - JM didn't look fully fit considering how threatening and robust he usually is.
Probably our best performance of the season to be honest, we are capable of mixing it with the big boys but 40-6 is pretty outrageous

To be fair, Russell didn't spill one bomb in a swirling wind and some of them were huge!! So i think he came out ok yesterday. Atkins looked like he wanted it and ran the ball in hard. It's a shame we have such a dearth of creativity and are unable to open up defences and put players like that through gaps.

The problem I have with Russel is he has no idea how to link into the line, returning the ball he's fine, but he rarely links into the attack and when he does he takes the wrong option...

| I said the same about Russell in an Asotasi thread (I think) a few weeks ago, I noticed his kick returns and effort are both 110% but his link up play is terrible BUT I STRESS, BUT he's young and fresh and learning and the fact he tries as hard as he does means I'm staying off his back, you can't criticise effort like that.
Asotasi...yeah, I'm done with him, I've seen enough now to be confident in my opinion, one half decent performance since he's been here.

Wasn't it said by Shaun Wane that Russell has poor support play and that's was why they let him go?

I should of made myself clearer, I dont include any youngsters in this as they have been thrust straight into the firing line.

| Quote: Winslade's Offload "The tone sounds about right. Clearly annoyed, but can't put the boot into the players for fear of lowering morale.
He has a tough job on his hands now with the injuries and under performing players. Still, if you have watched Wire for 30-40 years it's hardly anything new. Saints have had a bad patch for 3-4 years but seem to have come through, and so can we.'"
Some of the players are just not good enough I am afraid but the main thing we need is a pack leader.
Leeds won the grand final twice from fifth. The reason why they were fifth was because Jamie Peacock had a lengthy injury spell in both seasons and, when he came back, they were a different team. Players like Peacock are invaluable not just because of what they do but of what they bring out of the players around them. They instil confidence and players around them raise their game, particularly young inexperienced players. Nat Silcock and Charlie Winslade had such an effect on Warrington packs in the past, not to mention Mr. Morley. What we need is a Sam Burgess as opposed to a Roy Asotasi but where we are going to find such a player now is another matter. At the moment we have two captains which is a nonsense. If TS doesn't know who the leader is in the team, it suggests there isn't one.
We saw what could happen against Widnes when the pack imposes itself but Widnes were woeful that day and this present Warrington pack is not going to impose itself on many others in the league.
Talk of putting the boot in to TS is utter nonsense but History tells us that some brain dead fans will no doubt participate.
Congratulations to Castleford on the start they have made to the season. It is good for the game to see different names on the leader board. When the likes of Leeds, Wigan and Saints disappear from the top we will have a more successful competition. An unfortunate side effect though is the appearance of brain dead Cas fans on other boards who want to crow and talk garbage.

| May be RL has reached the stage that people were clamouring for a couple of years ago.....a more even spread of talent throughout the clubs & any club being able to beat any other.
A couple of matters seem to be affecting the transition though ,namely the lack of suitable skilled homegrown talent ,which may have been affected by watering down the junior teams to bring about dual registration with partner clubs & the lack of any reasonably priced quality NRL rejects being available.

An astute observation. Savvy clubs like Wigan and Leeds saw this coming and invested in the best youth talent. We did as well but, I would argue, not with the dame success. Wigan are producing so much talent that they can afford to offload some and still stay at the top. It appears that the strategy has changed from buying talent from all over the world to cornering the market in home produced talent such as it is.
