It doesn't all taste like feet, I think for most it's a natur progression once you start drinking lager, then when you get a bit bored drinking fizzy Shit, or you have a bad session where it won't go down. So you try Guinness or a cask ale.

I love going the angel and trying the specials and do so elsewhere but I'm thinking now that ales don't do for me any more, and the two pints of Xmas ale I had in the Salisbury before Xmas were what led to me being abducted by aliens that night( I can't remember a Fucking thing). Definitely wasn't anything to do with the champagne vodka cocktails in Revolution.

In closing, I'd recommend everyone trying something, with a bit of flavor to it.

Otherwise we might as well all be stuck in a wetherspoon's choosing the deal of the day lager, while waiting for our two for one meals

Spot on. I go through stages, particularly in the winter when I just can't be bothered at all with lager. You can't beat walking into a pub like the Head of Steam in Huddersfield Station and discovering a great local beer.

I hope this new place is good, as much as I like Wilkies it is a bit of a walk from town.

I concur. Lager is okay on a hot day but nothing beats a real ale in Winter.

My local used to have guest *real* beers and most of them tasted like cough mixture.

I don't know how anybody can drink the lager that is sold in Britain......it is all p*** wind....i will drink lager abroad but the cheapest local stuff that goes down ok & doesn't give me any side effects. Over here though you can't beat a good bitter ....i used to drink mild but that is hard to find these days.

I'd been thinking the same but I didn't want to jinx it. Can add the Quarter bar to the others mentioned.

That's the one, couldn't remember the name when I posted yesterday. Went past the real ale place on the bus this morning, doesn't look far off being ready. As an aside, when you have a proper look the buildings on Sankey Street are brilliant!

When available I have real ale, bitter and sometimes Guinness as lager is too gassy. Thankfully real ale has become more popular so there's more choices and availability.

Coach House Brewery in Warrington www.coach-house-brewing.co.uk produces some great ale, and their fruit and spice range of beers certainly don't smell like feet.

I hope this new bar does very well, I'm looking forward to them opening.

Rarely drink lager nowadays, tend to stick to cider or whiskey.

Saying that, I rarely drink anyway. Not touched a drop since New Years Eve and I've not missed it one bit.

<insert witty comment when applicable>:

They're looking to open 14/02/2014. The delay in opening down to issues beyond their control (brewery not installing all the pumps on dates promised etc). From speaking to one of the fellas who owns it they're looking at doing lots of varieties of real ale (potentially up to 14 lines) and some decent high end whiskey's too.
