We had him for 3 or 4 years before he went to the NRL. Can't blame him for that. Then he made Origin.

Probably the greatest all round rugby player I ever saw but also one of the nastiest and underhand. The ultimate professional who would stop at nothing to get winning pay as easily as possible.
Was it the 68 CC Final when Wigan had no hooker and he and Billy Sayers took in turns to stand offside and get the ball back. It completely ruined the game for impartial spectators and caused a change in the rules?
Undoubtedly an all time great but not the stuff of heroes in my book. |

1966. Younger readers should note that at the time you had to kick either for touch or goal from a penalty and if you kicked for touch it was a scrum. Sayer won the scrums about 21-5. First final I can remember. |
